It’s obviously clear to most anyone paying attention that Fox News’ firing of Tucker Carlson has turned the network into a total dumpster fire as ratings have tanked across the board.
But somehow things just keep getting worse for Rupert Murdoch’s media empire.
And now, Glenn Beck’s bombshell revelation on the situation at Fox News post-Tucker Carlson will leave you completely stunned.
Recently, those who still read the Drudge Report were greeted with one of the site’s infamous “Drudge Sirens” that founder Matt Drudge has utilized to denote a headline on the site that’s breaking major news.
It indicated that Fox News executives were in the process of finalizing the Grand Canyon sized void left in their primetime lineup after the network ousted the most popular primetime cable news host in America, Tucker Carlson.
“FOXNEWS is preparing to announce an ambitious new schedule, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, a schedule where [every] hour of primetime will change!” Drudge reported. “TOP SOURCE TELLS DRUDGE: ‘IT’S OUR BOLDEST AND MOST FEARLESS LINE-UP EVER’…”
Calling it an “ambitious new schedule” and their “boldest most fearless line-up ever” with changes across the entire primetime lineup would lead most to assume the network was planning a major shakeup, and possibly even hiring some new major talent.
But it wasn’t even close to that.
In the end, as reports from other outlets later clarified, the supposed shakeup Drudge teased turned out to be nothing more than one “scenario” Fox News is considering that simply involved moving around the leftovers still at the network post-Carlson.
Based on those reports, the changes would include Hannity moving into Carlson’s former 8:00 P.M. time slot, followed by Jesse Watters Primetime, which would move from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., and Gutfeld!, which would move up one hour to 10:00 P.M.
Of course, such a scenario would also mean that after firing Carlson, Fox News would also be demoting Laura Ingraham from primetime, as the network has responded to reports on their proposed shakeup by profusely claiming she’s not being fired and will remain with the company.
Regardless, Fox News is in a precarious position with literally their entire lineup of daily shows experiencing some level of viewership loss since the most influential figure in traditional media was given the boot.
TV providers would certainly love nothing more than to be able to go into negotiations on the fees they pay to offer Fox News to their subscribers with the network’s ratings still in the tank.
Newsmax’ Eric Boiling brought TheBlaze founder and CEO, Glenn Beck, on his program to discuss their unique perspectives on the matter as two former Fox News hosts themselves.
Boiling began by pointing out that the reported primetime lineup shakeup Fox News is eyeing is nothing more than “rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.”
“So now Fox is desperate,” Boiling explained. “Window dressing by moving hosts around. Shuffling them around like deck chairs on the Titanic. But it won’t work. Americans won’t buy it.”
Beck agreed with Boiling’s assessment of the situation, and added that when other stars have departed Fox News – like Megyn Kelly, Bill O’Reilly, and Beck himself – the network was healthy enough to continue moving forward when the next star was put in place.
But now, TheBlaze founder believes Fox News’ viewers have reached their breaking point with the network, and likely won’t return.
“Fox News when I left was very healthy. Fox News, when Megyn left, was healthy,” Beck explained. “When O’Reilly left, it was still healthy, but it needed a star. They found Tucker. He clicked with the audience; he worked with the audience. Now I think that’s their last straw because they watched Fox over the years and have seen, you know, you are not the Fox of Roger Ailes that used to actually care about the center of the country.”
As Beck points out, through this entire ordeal, Fox News executives, like Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, have shown complete contempt for their viewers, and unfortunately, that’s nothing new.
Fox News has been taking its viewers for granted for years, believing that because they were the only news network willing to challenge the so-called “mainstream” narrative, their viewers would have nowhere else to go.
But TV isn’t the only game in town anymore.
In fact, Elon Musk is proving just that with Twitter, as Carlson has announced that he will soon begin hosting his show on the platform. Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire has announced it will begin broadcasting all of its shows on the platform at the end of the month, and the Tesla and SpaceX founder hosted Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Presidential campaign announcement on Twitter Spaces earlier this week.
Ultimately, unless Fox News gets its act together, it could soon find itself alone on an island, looking around wondering where all its viewers went.
