GM and Ford are raising hell over this crazy Joe Biden rule.

Joe Biden’s failing administration has come up with yet another hair-brained scheme to tamp down on the American people.

Now every automobile in the country will be ruined by one rushed Biden administration proposal.

And Joe Biden has Ford and General Motors raising hell over this rule that is going to ruin driving.

Biden’s 2021 bipartisan infrastructure bill added impossible-to-meet auto braking rule

The 2021 bipartisan infrastructure bill will go down in history as one of the worst pieces of legislation of Joe Biden’s Presidency, if not of all time.

It was a classic “Swamp” bill that did nothing to solve any of the problems Biden claimed it was fixing.

The bill spent billions of taxpayer dollars to advance radical Green New Deal policies and sending money to Biden’s cronies in blue states.

One little-noticed provision in the bill required that virtually every vehicle sold in the U.S. must, by 2029, have an advanced automatic emergency braking system for “safety.”

The rule would require every vehicle on the road to automatically stop when the vehicle reached speeds of 90 miles per hour, or when it got too close to the vehicle in front of it, or slow at 45 miles per hour when a pedestrian is detected.

But now a group made up of most major automakers is asking the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to reconsider the rule.

They point out it is “practically impossible with available technology.”

The NHTSA issued the ridiculous, and dangerous, rule in response to the provision in the 2021 bipartisan infrastructure bill.

The Alliance for Automotive Innovation – an industry trade group made up of Ford, General Motors, Toyota, Stellantis, and other manufacturers – wrote the NHTSA and the House and Senate Transportation Committees with a stark warning about the rule.

According to the group, vehicles “automatically applying the brakes far in advance of what a typical driver and others on the road would expect” would cause more rear-end collisions.

The group further stated that the NHTSA “vastly underestimated the necessary and costly hardware and software change required for vehicles to comply with the rule (something that will increase the cost of vehicles for consumers).”

Joe Biden wants drivers to fork over more money for more dangerous vehicles

An automatic braking system engaging in the middle of a highway or other road at high speeds is the stuff of nightmares and horror movies.

Alliance for Automotive Innovation CEO John Bozzella told Congress the rule “will require more costly systems that won’t improve driver or pedestrian safety.”

“Here’s what I (regrettably) conclude will happen: driving AEB equipped vehicles in the U.S. under NHTSA’s new standard will become unpredictable, erratic and will frustrate or flummox drivers,” Bozzella wrote.

The group instead encouraged the adoption of automatic braking standards used in Europe.

“Yes, this rule will make vehicles more expensive, but the real issue isn’t cost – it’s cost/benefit. NHTSA’s action will require more costly systems that won’t improve driver or pedestrian safety, which is why we are asking the agency to reopen the proceeding and make these necessary corrections,” Bozzella added.

This rule is just the latest section of the bipartisan infrastructure bill that will take control of vehicles away from drivers.

Already in the works is a kill switch added to every car to shut it down if the vehicle decides the driver is behaving erratically.

If Joe Biden has his way, the future of driving will be controlled by computers.
