Kristi Noem started actually enforcing immigration laws and Democrats lost their minds.
Now they're trying to go after her over an ICE agent defending himself.
And 67 House Democrats just signed on to target Trump’s DHS Secretary Kristi Noem with one horrific immigration enforcement threat.
Kristi Noem Faces Impeachment From 67 Democrats After ICE Agent Shooting
Congresswoman Robin Kelly rallied 67 House Democrats to sign articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Kelly's impeachment push stems from a Minneapolis incident where an ICE agent was forced to shoot anti-ICE activist Renee Nicole Good, 37, after she ran him over with her vehicle during an enforcement operation.
The agent opened fire in self-defense after Good used her car as a weapon against federal law enforcement.
Kelly's calling it "terrorizing communities" when ICE arrests people here illegally who've committed additional crimes.
Her three articles of impeachment accuse Noem of obstructing Congress, violating public trust, and using her office for personal gain.
None of that has anything to do with the Minneapolis shooting.
This is Democrats throwing everything at the wall to stop Trump's immigration enforcement.
A DHS spokesperson torched Kelly's impeachment stunt with a brutal response.
"As ICE officers are facing a 1,300% increase in assaults against them, Rep. Kelly is more focused on showmanship and fundraising clicks than actually cleaning up her crime-ridden Chicago district," the spokesperson told Fox News.
That 1,300% spike in attacks on ICE agents is the real story Democrats don't want anyone talking about.
Federal officers are getting assaulted at record rates while trying to arrest criminals who shouldn't be in the country.
And Democrats are siding with the attackers.
Chicago Lawmaker Blames ICE Raids For City Violence
Here's what makes Kelly's impeachment push so absurd.
The DHS spokesperson called her district "crime-ridden" and Kelly didn't even try to dispute it.
She can't.
Chicago's been drowning in violence for years under Democrat leadership.
Kelly's been watching it happen and did nothing.
Now Trump sends ICE to arrest people who broke into the country and committed additional crimes, and suddenly she's found her voice.
Kelly took to the House floor Tuesday accusing Noem of bringing violence to Chicago through immigration enforcement.
"Operation Midway Blitz has torn apart the Chicagoland area," Kelly claimed.
"President Donald Trump declared war on Chicago, and then he brought violence and destruction to our city and suburbs in the form of immigration enforcement."
Chicago's been a war zone for years under Democrat control.
Trump's trying to remove the criminals making it worse.
Kelly's acting like the people breaking federal law are somehow the victims.
The Trump administration fired back hard, pointing out federal agents are targeting criminals while ICE officers face record assaults.
Kristi Noem Stands By Border Security Agents After Deadly Encounter
Noem dismissed the impeachment theater during a Fox News interview and made clear she'll keep doing her job.
"President Trump promised the American people that he would make America safe again, that we would be out there enforcing the laws and that we would apply them equally," Noem said.
"Nobody is above the law, and we were going to start putting American citizens first."
She emphasized that people here illegally who commit crimes will face justice under Trump's administration regardless of Democrat tantrums.
The impeachment effort has zero chance in the Republican-controlled House.
GOP leadership hasn't shown any interest in advancing these articles.
Kelly knows that.
This whole circus is about fundraising emails and scoring points with the open borders crowd.
Look at what Democrats are really afraid of here.
Kelly watched her district suffer under Democrat policies for years while doing nothing about it.
The DHS spokesperson's dig about her "crime-ridden" district hit where it hurts because it's true.
Now Trump's enforcing immigration laws that have been on the books for decades and Kelly's calling it terrorism.
She's more concerned about people who broke into the country facing deportation than the American citizens dealing with violence in her own backyard.
That tells you everything about Democrat priorities.
They'd rather protect people who broke federal law than the voters who elected them.
The 1,300% increase in assaults on ICE agents proves what federal law enforcement is dealing with.
These aren't peaceful protests.
Anti-ICE activists are violently attacking federal officers trying to remove criminals from American communities.
The Minneapolis shooting that triggered Kelly's impeachment push is the perfect example.
An ICE agent was run over by an activist during a lawful enforcement operation.
He defended himself.
And Democrats want to impeach his boss over it.
Kelly's impeachment push is Democrats' opening salvo against Trump's entire immigration enforcement agenda.
They know his policies are popular with voters sick of sanctuary city chaos.
So they're trying to turn Noem into a villain before Americans see real results from actually enforcing the law.
The problem for Democrats is voters are already noticing the difference.
Federal agents are arresting people who shouldn't be here instead of releasing them back into communities.
Residents are seeing the government finally prioritize American citizens over people who broke into the country.
And no amount of impeachment theater from Kelly will change that.
Kelly's stunt won't stop Noem.
It won't stop Trump.
And it definitely won't stop ICE from doing what they should have been doing all along.
