Joe Biden has created chaos at the southern border and conservative Republicans have a plan to stop the massive influx of illegal aliens.
But they need GOP leadership to act, and not just talk.
That’s why Speaker Kevin McCarthy is under intense fire with a big ultimatum to stop Biden’s border debacle.
In just the few days prior to Joe Biden ending Title 42, some 10,000 illegal aliens crossed the southern border every single day.
And now that Title 42 has ended, most experts expect it to get even worse.
House Republicans introduced legislation to stop Joe Biden’s border crisis.
The legislation requires Biden to resume construction of the border wall, hire thousands of new border patrol agents, and reform the asylum process.
Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX) appeared on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News show and blasted Biden for threatening to veto the common sense measure to secure our border to stop the deluge of illegal aliens pouring into the United States.
“We are getting absolutely inundated and this administration doesn’t seem to care, and they’re trying to say that they should be able to release people into the United States without a notice to appear in court? It’s absolutely insane. They have the power to stop this, but they refuse to. Thankfully, in the House of Representatives today, we passed legislation to force the hand of the administration to do the right thing. It is the strongest border security bill ever passed through the United States Congress — in this case, the House of Representatives — we need to get the Senate to act and the president to move. Republicans have to use the power of the purse to force action through the debt ceiling or the spending fight in September.”
Roy flatly dismissed Biden’s veto threat, saying Republicans have some levers to pull to force Biden to accept their border security bill.
The Texas Congressman also told Ingraham Republicans could simply draw a line in the sand on the debt ceiling and refuse to pass any debt limit increase unless Joe Biden agreed to the House’s border security package.
“We need to use the debt ceiling. And let me be just very clear, don’t expect my vote to be guaranteed right now on any debt ceiling or any spending bill unless we’re dealing with the border. […] This bill was a historic bill. We need to hold their feet to the fire, just like we’re doing with the debt ceiling. Republicans are united in the House and we’re changing the game,” Roy stated.
“We should jam this bill through using the power of the purse,” Roy continued.
Roy has a very valid point.
House Speaker McCarthy can only afford to lose four GOP votes on any given bill.
And as it stands right now, there are far more than that in the House who oppose the debt ceiling just on principle.
When you add in the Republicans, and even some Democrats, who want the border crisis dealt with, McCarthy does not have the votes, at least from GOP House members.
And if McCarthy looks to cut a deal with Democrats, he could face a challenge to his speakership by just one member of the House.
That was part of the deal struck to give McCarthy enough votes to win the Speaker’s race.
