The walls are closing in on Hunter Biden as Republicans dig even deeper into his family’s suspicious international business dealings.
After months of collecting evidence, Rep. James Comer (R-KY) is starting to call some key witnesses for what promises to be some uncomfortable and explosive Congressional hearings.
So far the Republicans have subpoenaed Hunter Biden, James Biden, the President’s younger brother, and Rob Walker, one of Hunter’s business associates.
Comer also called for transcripts of interviews to be provided for numerous actors including Joe Biden’s sister-in-law, Sara, and the President’s widowed daughter-in-law, Hallie Biden–who scandalized The Swamp when it came out Hunter was having an affair with her after her husband (his brother) passed away.
Hallie’s older sister and Hunter’s current wife, Melissa Cohen have both also been included on the list of those the committed wants transcribed interviews from.
Another big name on the list is Tony Bobulinski—Hunter’s former best friend and business partner—who referred to President Biden as “the big guy” and revealed that the elder Biden was set to get a 10% cut of their ill-gotten gains.
This is a major development since it marks the first time members of the Biden family have been compelled to testify for the investigation.
But the First Son’s legal team left Republicans and Democrats alike completely flabbergasted when it was announced after the subpoena was issued that Hunter is “eager to have the opportunity” to testify “in a public forum.”
Abbe Lowell, Hunter’s attorney, doubled down on that claim when asked claiming that Comer is spearheading a “partisan” investigation.
“This is yet another political stunt aimed at distracting from the glaring failure of Rep. Comer and his MAGA allies to prove a single one of their wild and now discredited conspiracies about the Biden family,” he claimed. “Nevertheless, Hunter is eager to have the opportunity, in a public forum and at the right time, to discuss these matters with the Committee.”
Lowell fired off a letter recently elected Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) demanding an end to Rep. Comer, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), and House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Rep. Jason Smith’s (R-MO) efforts to investigate criminal accusations against the Biden Family.
But Johnson doesn’t appear ready to cave to the desires of Hunter’s legal representatives or pull Comer, Jordan, and Smith away from pursuing the House impeachment inquiry.
In an interview with Fox News, Speaker Johnson made it clear he supports the impeachment inquiry because to him it appears that Joe Biden was involved in a “cover-up” and is lying about his involvement in his family’s alleged foreign influence-peddling scheme.
At this point the Bidens are trapped in a no-win situation.
If they testify, the fallout could include exposing more lies and provide insight into wrongdoing related to their sketchy international “business” deals.
On the other hand, Hunter could also ignore the subpoena and be held in criminal contempt of Congress.
Considering the nature of his father’s politicized Department of Justice, many expected Hunter would refuse to testify and count on the idea that the Justice Department would never bother to bring him up on charges.
However, at this point it looks like the First Son believes he can brazen his way through his most important test ever.
