Illinois Governor just put murderers and rapists back on the streets with this shocking decision

Illinois became a magnet for criminal illegal aliens under Joe Biden's open borders.

But what happened next left even hardened law enforcement officers stunned.

And Illinois’ Governor just put murderers and rapists back on the streets with this shocking decision.

Federal agents forced to hunt down released predators

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement just delivered a warning to Illinois that should terrify every parent in the state.

ICE Director Todd Lyons sent a letter revealing Illinois has released 1,768 criminal illegal aliens with active federal detainers since January 2025.¹

The crimes tied to those released offenders include homicides, assaults, burglaries, weapons offenses and sexual-predatory crimes.¹

One case exposes the full horror of Governor JB Pritzker's sanctuary policies.

Victor Manuel Mendoza-Garcia was convicted of three counts of aggravated kidnapping and walked free because Illinois officials ignored ICE's detainer.²

Juan Morales Martinez, tied to a fatal vehicle crash, was released without notifying federal agents.²

Amilcar Waldo Gonzalez-Jimenez, convicted of two counts of criminal sexual assault, was turned loose on Illinois streets.²

ICE agents had to track down these violent criminals after local authorities freed them instead of honoring the detainers.

Illinois isn't just releasing a few bad apples.

Another 4,015 criminal illegal aliens with pending detainers remain in state or local custody right now.³

Those pending cases include individuals linked to 51 homicides and more than 800 sexual-predatory offenses.³

Think about that number for a second.

Over 800 sexual predators sitting in Illinois jails with federal detainers that state officials plan to ignore when they're released.

Pritzker shields criminals while families bury their dead

Katie Abraham would be alive today if Illinois had different leadership.

The 20-year-old from Glenview was stopped at a red light in Urbana on January 19, 2025 when Julio Cucul-Bol slammed into her car at nearly 80 miles per hour.⁴

Cucul-Bol, an illegal alien from Guatemala, was drunk behind the wheel.

He fled the scene without rendering aid, leaving Katie and her friend Chloe Polzin to die.⁴

The drunk driving killer was using false Mexican identification and had been previously deported from the United States.⁵

Katie's father Joe Abraham delivered a gut-wrenching message about Illinois sanctuary policies.

"If this man had not been allowed into our country against federal law, he would not have been on that road, and my daughter would be alive today," Abraham wrote in a Fox News op-ed.⁴

"If Illinois had real leadership willing to prioritize public safety over politics — and if the state hadn't doubled down on the sanctuary policies that shielded this coward — Katie might still be with us."⁴

DHS launched Operation Midway Blitz in Katie's honor to arrest the criminal illegal aliens who flocked to Illinois specifically because they knew Pritzker's sanctuary policies would protect them.⁶

The Trump Administration targeted the worst offenders during the operation.

One example shows how insane Illinois policies have become.

Gabriel J Valle Galvez, a 47-year-old Latin King gang member from Mexico, racked up convictions for battery, aggravated assault, DUI, trespassing, criminal damage to property, public indecency, violation of order of protection, and multiple assaults.⁷

ICE lodged arrest detainers twelve separate times for Valle Galvez.⁷

Cook County Jail ignored every single one and released him back onto Chicago streets.⁷

TRUST Act signed by Republican becomes weapon against public safety

Illinois became a sanctuary state in 2017 when Republican Governor Bruce Rauner shockingly signed the TRUST Act.⁸

The law prohibits state and local police from detaining someone based solely on their immigration status and restricts cooperation with ICE.⁸

Rauner claimed at the time the bill would "continue" Illinois' tradition of "welcoming" immigrants while ensuring law enforcement focused on "violent crime" rather than "federal prerogatives."⁹

That's exactly backwards from what actually happened.

Pritzker took office in 2019 and went to extremes expanding sanctuary policies far beyond what Rauner signed.

The Democrat Governor signed the Way Forward Act in 2021 which added even more restrictions preventing Illinois law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.¹⁰

When the Trump Administration sued Illinois over sanctuary policies, Pritzker had the audacity to claim his state "follows the law" while Trump doesn't.¹¹

"The bipartisan Illinois TRUST Act, signed into law by a Republican governor, has always been compliant with federal law and still is today," Pritzker said in a statement.¹¹

That's complete nonsense.

The law might have been signed by a Republican, but Pritzker weaponized it into a shield protecting rapists, murderers and gang members from deportation.

ICE Director Lyons made the stakes crystal clear in his warning to Illinois.

The state's ongoing refusal to honor immigration detainers "plainly jeopardizes public safety" and forces dangerous offenders to "walk the streets of Illinois again."¹²

Pritzker testified before Congress in June defending his sanctuary policies.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer pointed out the obvious problem.

"Sanctuary policies do not protect Americans," Comer said at the hearing. "They protect criminal illegal aliens."¹³

Every family in Illinois should ask themselves one question.

How many more Katie Abrahams will die before Pritzker admits his sanctuary policies are getting innocent people killed?

The Trump Administration gave Illinois a simple choice.

Honor federal detainers and help remove violent criminals from American communities, or keep releasing predators onto the streets and face the consequences.

Illinois Democrats chose the criminals over their own constituents.
