After being out of office for over a full month, Trump supporters are still wondering what his political future holds.
And now rumors are circulating that members of his family, including his children, are considering running for Congress in 2022.
But Ivanka Trump just made one major announcement that left Marco Rubio stunned.
On January 20, Donald Trump exited the White House and moved back to his home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
But it wasn’t just Donald and Melania Trump who moved to Florida.
Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, also made Florida their new home by moving to Miami, spurring rumors that Ivanka would challenge Republican Senator Marco Rubio in the 2022 GOP Primary.
In 2016, Rubio ran against Donald Trump in the Republican Primary, but quickly exited the race after losing massively to Trump in his home state of Florida and falling to a distant third place in the race.
Even though he claimed to be a “Tea Party Conservative,” Rubio supported gun control, open borders, amnesty, and other left-wing policies.
With Ivanka and Jared now living in Florida, Rubio’s been worried sick about facing off against Ivanka in a 2022 GOP Primary.
But according to the New York Times, Ivanka Trump is not planning on running for Senate against Marco Rubio in 2022:
“Marco did speak with Ivanka a few weeks ago,” said Nick Iacovella, a spokesman for Mr. Rubio. “Ivanka offered her support for Marco’s re-election. They had a great talk.”
A person close to Ms. Trump also confirmed the conversation, and said that a Senate run was not on the table for Ivanka.
The insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity to disclose private discussions, said that Mr. Rubio’s office had asked Ms. Trump to hold off on making clear she was not running until April, when they hoped to hold a joint event with her.
Ivanka may not be running against Rubio in 2022.
But given his history of attacking Trump and selling out conservatives, it’s safe to say he will face an America First challenger in 2022.
