The “unwritten rules” of American politics dictate that politicians’ families are supposed to be off-limits.
As with most such “rules,” though, Democrats believe they only apply to Republicans.
And J.D. Vance’s wife grinned ear-to-ear when her husband dropped the hammer on CBS over attacking their family.
Democrats target Usha Vance
Around this time two years ago, Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) was in the midst of his very first run for political office at any level.
Now, he’s former President Donald Trump’s Vice Presidential running mate, and Democrats and their media allies are using every weapon at their disposal to destroy him once and for all.
But he’s not alone in facing the radical Left’s wrath.
As a matter of fact, supposedly “tolerant” and “joyful” Democrats are going so far as to attack Vance’s family, particularly his wife, Usha.
Usha holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University, a master of philosophy from Cambridge University, and like her Ohio Senator husband, obtained her Juris Doctor from Yale Law School, where she served as the Yale Law Journal’s Executive Development Editor and Yale Journal of Law & Technology’s Managing Editor.
She also clerked for Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his time on the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and for Chief Justice John Roberts at the Supreme Court before ultimately becoming a highly respected civil litigation and appeals attorney in private practice.
But she’s an Indian-American who is married to a conservative, and there’s nothing Democrats despise more than minorities who don’t fall in line behind their woke agenda.
The rather openly racist attacks his wife is enduring from the Left have become so pervasive even CBS News’ Margaret Brennan referenced them during Senator Vance’s recent appearance on Face The Nation.
“Way out of their league”
Brennan admitted that despite her being “very accomplished,” that hasn’t stopped some – i.e., Democrats – from taking aim at her because she’s “not a white person.”
“How concerned are you that this kind of hate would follow you to the White House?” Brennan asked the Ohio Senator.
“It’s going to follow us wherever we go because that’s the nature of public life in America, and it’s disgraceful,” Vance replied.
But Senator Vance wasn’t done there.
He proceeded to take the opportunity to draw a bright red line in the sand when it comes to Democrats and their media allies’ attacks on his wife.
“I love my wife,” Vance stressed. “I’m very proud of her. I’m extremely lucky to have met her and to have gotten the chance to build a life with her.”
“And my attitude on this is, people want to attack me, attack my policy views, they’re welcome to,” he added. “I signed up for it – my wife didn’t sign up for it.”
From there, Senator Vance hit Usha’s detractors with a self-evident truth, telling them that she is “way out of their league” and to “just keep their mouth shut, or at least focus on me.”
The attacks will keep coming
Brennan responded by asking the Republican Vice Presidential nominee how he dealt with the attacks against his family without allowing them to get to him.
“Yeah, I get pissed off sometimes, certainly,” Vance admitted. “When people attack your family for something that no person can control.”
But he also made clear that while he may get “pissed,” Usha is “pretty tough” and has handled everything with grace.
The day after Trump named Vance as his Vice Presidential running mate last month, Usha resigned from her prominent position with the Munger, Tolles, & Olson LLP law firm in order to “focus on caring for our family.”
Much like former First Lady Melania Trump, she’s not interested in playing political games like many other prominent politicians’ spouses, and instead stays out of the spotlight and cares for her and the Senator’s three young children.
That obviously doesn’t matter to Democrats, though, as they’ll continue hurling blatantly racist and disgusting attacks against her as a way of getting to her husband.
But needless to say, as he’s proven thus far, J.D. Vance will not hesitate to hit back at those who take aim at his wife and family.
