Recently, Biden has been coming under heat for his head-scratching executive orders to “pause” deporting illegal immigrants.
But it doesn’t stop there.
Because now Joe Biden has this major problem on his hands at the southern border.
In a huge turnaround, Mexico has signaled the end of an agreement with the U.S. that it made with the Trump administration to accept illegal aliens that were trying to illegally enter the United States.
With no public announcement, Mexico has stopped accepting the families that are expelled from the U.S. border.
The Washington Post reports:
The Mexican government has stopped taking back Central American families “expelled” at the U.S. border under a Trump-era emergency health order related to the coronavirus, a shift that has prompted U.S. Customs and Border Protection to release more parents and children into the U.S. interior, according to five U.S. officials…
…Mexico’s new policy has been applied unevenly. In Nogales, for example, families continued to be returned to Mexico — deposited on the streets rather than taken to family shelters. In a number of border cities, families continue to be returned to Mexico.
Originally, Mexico made the agreement during the height of the coronavirus panic.
But Biden has made it abundantly clear that he will be soft on illegal aliens trying to enter the United States.
Mexico is simply taking advantage of that.
And in turn, it’s only making matters worse for the growing border patrol problem.
In fact, Customs and Border Patrol informed The Washington Post that they’ve “seen a steady increase in border encounters since April 2020, which, aggravated by COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing guidelines, has caused some facilities to reach maximum, safe holding capacity. Whenever feasible we are seeking alternatives to detention in cases where the law allows.”
The Biden administration abandoned the America First agenda that was set out by the Trump administration.
And the consequences of that are yet to be seen, but are sure to bite the Biden administration back later down the road.
