Joe Biden’s Presidential campaign is underperforming Democrats’ expectations across the board.
But one demographic’s dissatisfaction with the Democrat President could be the death knell in his bid for re-election.
For decades now, Democrats have been able to rely on receiving 90% if not more of the black vote in every Presidential election regardless of the candidate.
That seems to be changing under President Joe Biden, though.
According to the Pew Research Center, Biden won 92% of the black vote in the 2020 Presidential election.
But a poll conducted by USA Today in January indicated that President Biden’s support amongst black voters has now plumented as low as 63%.
During a recent appearance on CNN, Black Voters Matter founder Cliff Albright noted Biden’s struggles with black voters, especially young black voters, as the “most concerning” issue facing the Democrat President’s re-election campaign.
CNN’s Poppy Harlow asked Albright specifically how much of black voters’ dissatisfaction with Biden was attributed to him “not calling for a cease-fire and the mounting civilian casualties in Gaza” as she pointed out that pro-Hamas left-wing protestors interrupted the President in South Carolina recently.
“That is definitely a major issue,” Albright said. “You know, I told a high-ranking person within the administration that has got to be their most concerning issue. When you look at the poll numbers, you know, black voters in general are disappointed with the President’s policy, disappointed, to be generous, with the President’s policy in Gaza, but when you look at the younger black voters, it’s around 70%, 75%, 80% who are not just disappointed, but just outright mad about it, and that can be an issue.”
At the same time, though, Albright stressed that he believes it’s important for Biden to strike a “balance” between support for the Palestinian terrorist group known as Hamas and other woke extremist special interests, like climate change, gun control, and “police accountability.”
“That won’t eliminate the concerns and the outright anger about Gaza, but folks have got to hear something that at least gives them some kind of balance to what they are really upset about in terms of policy in Gaza,” Albright said.
While polls show that former President Donald Trump is slowly but surely increasing his support amongst black voters amidst President Biden’s downfall, Albright also claimed that the bigger issue for the Democrat is whether black voters show up at all.
“The bigger question though is whether or not folks actually turn out to vote at all,” Albright explained. “There’s always that third choice of not voting for either candidate.”
With his approval ratings in the tanks and polls indicating that he’s falling behind Donald Trump, the last thing Joe Biden can afford in the 2024 election is for black voters to refuse to turn out to vote for him.
But that seems to be exactly where this is heading.
