Mere weeks from the Midterm elections, America is in critical condition.
Polls are showing most voters are, rightfully, worried about inflation and the economy.
Now Mike Rowe is warning about one critical workforce factor Joe Biden is ignoring—and it’s poised to take down the economy.
The Federal Reserve’s attempts to stop inflation are failing miserably with September’s inflation report showing a 0.4 percent increase in prices which is double what economists predicted.
Over the past year overall inflation is up by a wallet draining 8.3% while paying for groceries is even more painful with prices up 13.5%.
In August, Americans experienced the biggest increase in grocery prices since 1979.
But now Mike Rowe is warning about one hidden factor driving America to the brink of economic disaster.
Rowe, who is best known for his role on the Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs, has committed himself to advocating for blue collar America both through his work on television and non-profit organizations.
He also hosts a show on Fox Business called How America Works with a focus on the critical role skilled work and manual labor plays in the American economy.
On Monday he made an appearance on Fox News’ America’s Newsroom where he dropped a truth bomb about what’s really happening behind the government’s economic number reports.
“There [has] just simply never been a need for skilled work like there is right now,” Rowe explained to the show’s co-hosts Dana Perino and Bill Hemmer.
“If you’re inclined to think that way, to work that way, the world is your oyster,” Rowe added “if you’re not, sadly, and you’re a man, statistically, you’re probably sitting home spending 2,000 hours a year looking at your screen.”
That is an issue that seriously needs to be discussed—in the right way.
“We have to talk about that,” Rowe said. “We’ve got to do something about it, not in a scholarly lecturing way, but we’ve got to acknowledge it because it’s enormous.”
He then pointed out that the labor participation fails to get enough attention even though it’s the indicator with the biggest impact on the economy.
“You’ve got 7 million men right now, prime age 25 to 54, not only not working, but affirmatively not looking for work,” Rowe added. “That is having an impact, I think, on the economy, and according to [economist] Nick [Eberstadt], an impact unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.”
The growing number of Americans who have essentially given up on work is growing.
According to a recent Fox News poll a “majority of Americans would prefer the government lend them a hand as they battle various economic woes, like rising consumer prices.”
But Rowe says despite the negative views held by many, America remains a land of opportunity for those willing to get to work.
“The reality is, there are a lot of people who need a hand who are well-intended and willing to work,” Rowe added. “The other reality is there are millions of people who have been given a hand and as a result, have done absolutely nothing with the help they’ve been afforded.”
“And I’m telling you, Bill . . . if you’re an individual who’s willing to work, the path to prosperity is crystal clear,” Rowe said.
It’s no wonder the workforce is suffering from a severe lack of participation.
The trillions of dollars Joe Biden spent driving up inflation also went to pay people for not participating in the job market.
That’s a social and cultural crisis that will be difficult to reverse.
We can only hope voters will have the good sense to kick Democrats out of power and begin the process of rebuilding the economy their leftist policies have devastated.
