Donald Trump changed history when he confirmed three justices to the Supreme Court during his four years in office, giving conservatives a 6-3 majority on the court.
There’s no doubt this is Donald Trump’s greatest legacy, as members of the Supreme Court are appointed for life.
Which is why Joe Biden is worried sick about this one case now before the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court has agreed to take up the case of New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Keith M. Corlett, which could strike down laws across the country that restrict the right of Americans to carry a firearm concealed.
The Daily Caller outlines the facts of the case:
The case began when Robert Nash and Brandon Koch applied for a concealed carry permit in Rensselaer County. Both applications were denied after the licensing officer determined they each “failed to show ‘proper cause’ to carry a firearm in public for the purpose of self-defense, because [they] did not demonstrate a special need for self-defense that distinguished [them] from the general public.”
Nash cited a recent string of robberies and his recent completion of an advanced firearm safety training course as a reason for wanting to carry a firearm outside of his home. Koch cited his “extensive experience in the safe handling and operation of firearms and the many safety training courses he had completed” as a reason for his request.
Right now, there are two distinctions that allow states to impose draconian gun control laws on carrying a concealed firearm.
Some states, like New York, are “shall” issue states, while others, like California, are “may” issue states.
New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Keith M. Corlett will be the first major Second Amendment case before the Supreme Court since the 2008 infamous Heller decision, which confirmed that Americans do have a fundamental right to own a firearm.
The case is challenging a law that currently prohibits New York citizens from carrying a gun outside of their home without a license, which the state walls behind bureaucratic red tape to make it as difficult as possible.
The Heller decision applied a very narrow interpretation of the Second Amendment that applied only to owning a gun in your own home.
Whatever the U.S. Supreme Court decides this time around has major ramifications not only for the state of New York but also for the rest of the country.
That’s exactly why leftists have been coming out in full force against the Supreme Court for even taking up the issue and opening the door to restoring constitutional rights to New York citizens.
New York City’s mayor and infamous far-left radical even stated, “I really fear a step in the wrong direction. I mean, we are here fighting gun violence. We need to turn the corner in 2021 by working with communities to really turn things around, and what do we have in the middle of that? The Supreme Court is going to consider making it easier for people to walk around with a gun? I mean, that’s just backwards and dangerous.”
This case could be the start of the new conservative majority upending the gun control agenda pushed by the radical left – and they can’t stand it.
