Joe Biden’s presidency absorbed a pre-holiday body blow.
The news broke when they thought no one would notice so it would soften the setback.
But Joe Biden suffered a humiliating defeat and you won’t believe which Democrats are responsible.
Joe Biden nominated Saule Omarova to head the Treasury Department’s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
Critics blasted Omarova – who grew up in the Soviet Union – as a Communist for her support for dissolving private bank accounts and making Americans open an account with the federal government as well as her spouting off that America should “welcome” bankrupting oil and gas companies.
Omarova’s nomination collapsed when five Democrats on the Senate Banking Committee communicated their opposition to Omarova to Committee Chairman Sherrod Brown.
Axios reports:
Driving the news: In phone call on Wednesday, Sens. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), all members of the Senate Banking Committee, told Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) — the panel’s chairman — of their opposition.
They’re joined in opposing her by Sens. John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.) and Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.).
The five senators’ offices either declined to comment or did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
During the 2020 election Joe Biden claimed he was a centrist.
But nomination of Omarova – who critics identified as a communist – to oversee the U.S. banking system proved to serve as another data point that the socialists in the Democrat Party were calling the shots on the policy front.
Four or five months ago Senate Democrats would have likely fallen in line and supported Omarova’s nomination.
But with some polls showing Biden’s approval rating in the high 30s, Democrats in red or purple states fear voter backlash would be monumental if they continue to act like a rubber stamp for Joe Biden’s most radical nominees.
