Instead of running the strongest candidate possible, Democrats have apparently decided to win the 2024 presidential election by using a weaponized justice system to wipe out Donald Trump.
Fulton County Democrat District Attorney Fani Willis made herself the darling of the Democrat party by bringing a 41-count racketeering case against Donald Trump.
Willis is going after Trump for his decision to challenge the 2020 election.
However, conservative legal experts say the case is laughably weak and was obviously put together for the sole purpose of helping Joe Biden win in 2024.
Willis is basically trying to criminalize Trump, along with a number of his supporters, for following the legal advice of their attorneys when they contested the results of the 2020 election in Georgia (where Trump lost by a razor thin margin).
During an appearance on Fox News, George Washington Law Professor Jonathan Turley dismissed Willis’ case as being built on a house of cards that could collapse quickly.
Turley explained that Trump and his 18 co-defendants will first file numerous motions in an attempt to get their case moved to federal court since they were federal officials when contesting the 2020 election.
He predicts Trump’s attorneys will also file motions to have the charges tossed out altogether based on Presidential immunity, considering that in his capacity as President, Trump had an obligation to ensure that he faithfully adhered to election laws.
“There’s going to be an effort to try to get some of these issues reviewed before trial,” Turley said. “That could be difficult with the racketeering case. Prosecutors tend to say ‘Look, you might not like my evidence but I’ve got enough of it that I should get to a jury.’ A lot of appellate judges agree with that. The problem is that this is an indictment, Martha, where there are strong claims against some of these defendants when you look at insular crimes like access to voting machines.”
Turley added that some of Trump’s supporters could be dealing with much tougher cases due to charges they had access to voting machines.
However, those charges should have no impact on Donald Trump.
Furthermore, Turley argued that Willis’ entire case against Trump crumbles if it’s established that the former President legitimately believed he could flip Georgia and turned to his attorneys for the best legal strategy to do so.
“It’s not that strong in my view, with Donald Trump; in fact, I think it collapses if you believe that Trump believed that he could flip the state, that he did, in fact, win the state, and he took the advice of his legal team. That’s not the type of case, I think, that’s good for democracy. I don’t think it’s good to have a democratic prosecutor pulling in the leading Republican candidate on that type of thin connection,” Turley pointed out.
Turley added that Willis’ case is a direct threat to democracy since Democrats are using it to criminalize their political enemy and gain an advantage.
Trump and his supporters are on the edge of their seats waiting to find out exactly how deep the corruption within the justice system runs and whether a judge will toss out the dozens of sham charges.
