For years Hunter Biden peddled his father’s influence to foreign nations to enrich the family and seemingly broke numerous federal laws.
And after somehow avoiding any consequences for his actions for years more it finally seems that he’s on the verge of being arrested.
But Joe Biden’s mind-blowing reaction to Hunter Biden’s impending arrest will drive you up a wall.
Despite their best efforts, the Hunter Biden “laptop from hell” scandal just won’t seem to go away for Democrats.
A couple of weeks ago, The Washington Post once again gave the story new life when they reported that federal investigators believed they have enough evidence to charge Hunter Biden with tax crimes and falsifying paperwork for a firearm purchase.
Of course, considering the FBI has been in possession of Hunter Biden’s laptop for more than three years, it’s mind-boggling it’s taken this long – logical people can connect the dots on that one on their own – but it seems to be happening nonetheless.
As a result, CNN’s Jake Tapper was forced to ask President Joe Biden about his son’s apparent impending arrest in a recent interview.
And the President’s word salad response may have just been his most mind-boggling yet.
“Well, first of all, I’m proud of my son,” Biden said. “This is a kid who got — not a kid, he’s a grown man — he got hooked on — like many families have had happened — hooked on drugs. He’s overcome that. He’s established a new life. He is — I’m confident that he is — what he says and does are consistent with what happens. And, for example, he wrote a book about his problems and was straightforward about it. I’m proud of him.”
“He came along and said, by the way, this thing about a gun, ‘I didn’t know anything about it,’” the President continued. “But it turns out that when he made [an] application to purchase a gun, what happened was…you get asked the question, are you on drugs or use drugs? He said no. And he wrote about saying no in his book. So, I have great confidence in my son. I love him. And he’s on the straight and narrow and he has been for a couple of years now. And I’m just so proud of him.”
In all sincerity, it’s great that Joe Biden is supportive of his son and wants to defend him – every self-respecting parent would do the same under similar circumstances.
But to do that by totally deflecting any blame away from him while attempting to eschew the consequences he should face, especially for crimes he admits to committing, is simply President Biden doing a grave disservice to his son.
Quite frankly, it’s probably that exact type of mentality that has led to this entire scandal.
The Wall Street Journal has also reported that Biden’s lawyers met with federal prosecutors on Hunter’s behalf, and attempted to use the exact same excuses his father is now making for him, as if addiction frees someone from facing consequences for their actions.
Of course, that excuse wouldn’t fly in the real world for working class Americans, but who knows, it could very well be what gets Hunter Biden off scot free.
If nothing else, the Hunter Biden scandal will be the ultimate litmus test for America’s justice system – does everyone play by the same rules, or do the elites get to play by a different set of rules?
It should be a simple question to answer, and justice should prevail.
But based on everything else that’s happened over the past seven years now, it definitely wouldn’t be wise to hold your breath on that one.
