Super Bowl 59 came and went without too much fanfare.
The game itself wasn’t memorable, but the halftime show certainly was.
And Judge Jeanine Pirro stepped forward to reveal she witnessed this one shocking act at the Super Bowl.
Judge Jeanine gives Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show performance a poor grade
A record 126 million Americans tuned in to watch Super Bowl 59.
The game itself was a clunker as the Philadelphia Eagles buried the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22.
And it was an even bigger blowout than the final score would lead anyone to believe as the Eagles dominated the entire game.
The Chiefs were never really a factor at all.
So, there wasn’t much to talk about on the field.
But the Super Bowl has become much more than a game, it is an American cultural event where the spectacle of the commercials, celebrity appearances, and the halftime show more often than not ends up dominating the conversation.
Ever since Michael Jackson’s halftime performance at the Super Bowl, the NFL has hired big-name musical acts to put on a concert as another lure to draw and keep increasing television viewership, which in turn allows the league to charge an ever-rising amount for commercials.
This year, famed rapper Kendrick Lamar was the halftime act.
Lamar has a number of chart-topping hits.
But Lamar is mainly a lyricist as opposed to an artist who produces mainstream top 40 hits, played at nightclubs, or other entertainment venues that patrons can get up and dance to.
An odd choice
For most, it went without saying that Lamar was an odd choice for the Super Bowl halftime show.
Lamar put on a divisive performance where the big headline was when he performed his hit “Not Like Us,” which doubles as a hit piece on rival rapper Drake.
In the song, Lamar alleges that Drake is a pedophile.
On The Five, Judge Jeanine spoke for tens of millions of Americans, expressing her complete bewilderment at the choice of Lamar to perform at halftime of the Super Bowl.
“I want to talk about the halftime show,” Pirro began. “Now, I got to tell you what a nightmare. I kept sitting there saying, you know, maybe I just don’t get this guy.”
Pirro then said she had to have Lamar’s entire beef with Drake explained to her before incorrectly calling Lamar, “Kendall.”
“Then I find out there’s this subplot, there’s drama with Drake,” Pirro added. “And, you know, he can do a concert. This guy Kendall Lamar.”
“Kendrick,” co-host Jessica Tarlov interjected.
“And he won all these grammars,” Pirro exclaimed, mispronouncing the musical award The Grammy, of which Lamar’s won an astounding 22.
Pirro then listed off some of the most mainstream acts who performed in recent Super Bowls and questioned why the NFL would pick a more niche artist like Lamar for the job.
“But, you know, we had Usher. We had The Weekend, we had Beyonce, and we had Rihanna. I mean, we had performers,” Pirro concluded. “I don’t know what the hell this guy was doing, but I did. I didn’t get it.”
And she wasn’t the only one.
The number one response to Lamar’s performance was, “What?”
