Last Wednesday, Joe Biden delivered his first address to Congress, where he called on Congress to ram through most of the Left’s radical agenda, including trillions of dollars in new spending and massive tax hikes to pay for it all.
The following day, Vice President Kamala Harris embarked on a national media tour to try to sell Biden’s proposals to the American people.
And Kamala Harris wanted to run and hide after George Stephanopoulos asked her this one tough question.
Kamala Harris recently appeared on Good Morning America for an interview with host George Stephanopoulos about the big government agenda Joe Biden urged Congress to pass.
During the interview, Stephanopoulos asked Harris what she thought about Tim Scott’s response to Joe Biden’s speech, particularly about how Scott ripped the Left for promoting critical race theory and the false claim that America is a systemically racist nation.
Caught off guard by Stephanopoulos’ question, Harris tried to play to the center while claiming America was neither a racist country and a historically racist nation at the same time.
“I believe that we need to come up, well first of all, no I don’t think America is a racist country,” fumbled Harris. “But we also do have to speak truth about the history of racism in our country, and it’s existence today.”
Harris praised Biden for attacking America as a systemically racist nation, applauding Biden for “always having the ability and the courage, frankly, to speak the truth about it. He spoke what we know from the intelligence community, one of the greatest threats to our national security is domestic terrorism manifested by white supremacists.”
Harris then echoed Biden’s belief that America is a systemically racist nation – meaning that American institutions were designed to oppress black Americans and other minorities.
However, she danced around using those words because she knows how deeply unpopular that position is.
“And so these are issues that we must confront, and it does not help to heal our country, to unify us as a people, to ignore the realities of that,” Harris added. “And I think the President has been outstanding, and a real national leader on the issue of saying let’s confront the realities, and let’s deal with it, knowing we all have so much more in common than what separates us, and the idea is that we want to unify the country, but not without speaking truth and requiring accountability as appropriate.”
Harris is clearly trying to appease both sides.
Instead of directly calling America a racist nation, like so many others on the Left do, Harris uses all the buzzwords of critical race theory supporters to send the signal that, like them, she too believes America is a systematically racist and inherently flawed nation.
All without actually saying it – just like you’d expect from a politician.
