Donald Trumps administration has set a new standard for government transparency, throughout the first month of his second term.
Democrats’ media allies are struggling to come to grips with a new reality where no one accepts their manufactured narratives.
And now Karoline Leavitt has just unleashed hellfire on a CNN reporter who picked one fight she instantly regretted
Reality check
On his first day back in office, President Donald Trump signed an executive order entitled, “Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness.”
Under the order, the formerly-named “Gulf of Mexico” was rightfully renamed as the Gulf of America.
Virtually every media outlet, as well as Google and Apple Maps, quickly conformed to the order, prominently displaying the gulf’s new name for the world to see.
But like most everything Trump does, the left-wing activists posing as self-proclaimed “journalists” over at the Associated Press decided that they had to resist the change at all costs, refusing to use the now-official Gulf of America name in their reporting on the matter.
As a result, the Trump White House chose to not allow the AP to cover a subsequent event with the President inside the Oval Office.
And to the surprise of no one, the entire mainstream media flew off the handle.
During a White House press briefing, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt whether the Trump administration was somehow “retaliating” against media outlets whose coverage they didn’t like, even though if that were the case, neither Collins nor anyone else from CNN would be allowed anywhere near 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
But Leavitt was having none of it, and politely reminded Collins that it is a privilege and not a right to enter the Oval Office or take part in any White House press briefing.
“First of all, let me just set the record straight,” Leavitt said. “It is a privilege to cover this White House. It is a privilege to be the White House Press Secretary. And nobody has the right to go into the Oval Office and ask a President of the United States questions – that is an invitation that is given.”
The media misses Karine Jean-Pierre
The Press Secretary went on to point out to Collins, as well as other self-entitled and privileged “journalists,” that there are literally hundreds of credentialed media outlets that are not invited to almost every White House event or briefing, particularly those within the Oval Office, yet none of the so-called “mainstream” talking heads ever seem to claim that their “rights” are violated in any way.
“And there are hundreds of outlets on this campus, many of you in this room, who don’t have the privilege of being part of that pool every single day and getting to ask the President questions,” Leavitt added. “We reserve the right to decide who gets to go into the Oval Office, and you all have credentials to be here including the Associated Press who is in this briefing room today.”
Of course, Collins proceeded to ignore Leavitt’s response while continuing to press the Press Secretary with the same tired talking points.
But Leavitt didn’t give an inch and hit Collins with a brutal reality check.
“I was upfront on day one if we feel that there are lies being pushed by outlets in this room, we are going to hold those lies accountable, and it is a fact that the body of water off the coast of Louisiana is called the Gulf of America, and I am not sure why news outlets don’t want to call it that, but that is what it is,” Leavitt declared.
“The Secretary of Interior has made that the official designation, and geographical identification name server, and Apple has recognized that, Google has recognized that, pretty much every outlet in this room has recognized that body of water as the Gulf of America, and it’s very important to this administration that we get that right, not just for people here at home but also for the rest of the world,” she concluded.
Whether Democrats and their media allies like it or not, the American people elected Donald Trump.
And he’s simply doing exactly what he said he would do.
