Laura Ingraham dropped a nuclear bomb on New York Attorney General Letitia James.
The woman who made her name attacking Donald Trump is now facing serious legal troubles of her own.
And Laura Ingraham blindsided anti-Trump AG Letitia James with this shocking fraud bombshell.
Trump administration sends criminal referral accusing James of mortgage fraud
The hunter has become the hunted in a stunning turn of events for New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Fox News Channel’s The Ingraham Angle exclusively obtained documents showing the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has sent a criminal referral to the Department of Justice accusing James of mortgage fraud.
The bombshell revelation came Tuesday when FHFA Director William Pulte sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi outlining what appears to be a pattern of falsified records by James.
According to the documents, James allegedly misrepresented information to meet lending requirements and receive favorable loan terms on multiple properties.
In one shocking instance, James allegedly claimed a property in Virginia as her principal residence – a clear problem since New York elected officials must maintain their primary residence in New York.
Even more damning, James allegedly claimed a New York property was a four-unit structure when it actually contained five units – a misrepresentation that could have allowed her to secure a more favorable loan.
But the most jaw-dropping allegation involves documents showing James listed her own father as her “husband” on mortgage applications.
“James is also accused of saying her father was her husband to file as a married couple,” Fox News contributor Jonathan Turley explained on Ingraham’s program.
Fox News contributor and George Washington University law professor Turley told Fox News host Laura Ingraham the irony of James getting accused of falsifying records is “perfectly crushing.”
“This is a person who prosecuted Trump for everything short of ripping a label off a mattress, and among the charges that were brought in New York, in just the civil but the criminal case, was making false or misleading statements to financial institutions,” Turley said.
Turley added, “As for James, if we apply the Letitia James standard that she created, there’d be little question here. This seems pretty straightforward.”
Legal experts confirm severity of the allegations
The New York Post reported that the documents show the property James purchased with her father had both parties listed as “husband and wife” in both 1983 and 2000.
“While this was a long time ago, it raises serious concerns about the validity of Ms. James’ representations on mortgage applications,” Pulte reportedly wrote in his letter to AG Bondi.
Legal experts note that the allegations against James are not merely procedural errors – they potentially constitute serious fraud.
“The Supreme Court just stated earlier in March, in a case called Thompson, that they want to see knowing false statements under sections, like 10-14, not just misleading statements,” Turley explained during the Ingraham segment.
“These are misleading statements. Either it’s your principal residence or it’s not. Either you’re married to your father or he’s your father,” Turley concluded bluntly.

The Department of Justice has not yet responded to Fox News regarding the criminal referral.
The ultimate irony: James prosecuted Trump for similar allegations
The timing of these allegations couldn’t be more devastating for James, who has made targeting Donald Trump her personal crusade.
James brought forth a civil fraud suit against President Donald Trump, the Trump Organization, and its senior leadership in 2022.
Trump was ordered to pay a staggering $454 million civil fraud judgment in James’ lawsuit, which is currently on appeal.
So far in 2025, James has spearheaded at least five legal actions against the Trump administration, including leading a coalition of state attorneys general to sue the federal government to halt DOGE’s access to the Treasury Department’s internal systems.
Retired NYPD inspector and Fox News contributor Paul Mauro told Fox News Digital he first reported the allegations against James on his Substack almost 10 weeks ago.
“The documents presented by Sam Antar, and the research he has done, appear entirely authentic,” Mauro said. “In which case, AG James appears to have engaged in the very sort of fraud which she alleged in her ludicrous case against Donald Trump.”
Mauro added, “Let’s see now, if indeed, as AG James has stated herself, nobody is above the law.”
James fires back but doesn’t deny the allegations
James’ office responded Wednesday morning with a statement that notably failed to address the specific allegations about falsified mortgage documents.
A spokesperson for James’ office said she has been “focused every single day on protecting New Yorkers, especially as this administration weaponizes the federal government against the rule of law and the Constitution. She will not be intimidated by bullies — no matter who they are.”
The weak response appears to be a deflection rather than a denial of the serious allegations.
Legal experts point out that mortgage fraud cases similar to the ones James is accused of have been prosecuted in the past.
As Turley noted on Ingraham’s program, “The documents themselves are quite damning.”
The ball is now in the Department of Justice’s court to determine whether James will face the same aggressive legal scrutiny she has applied to her political opponents.
For many Trump supporters who watched James celebrate Trump’s legal troubles, the potential for James to face similar charges represents a perfect form of poetic justice.
The question remains whether the Justice Department will apply the same standards to James that she demanded be applied to her political opponents.
