Trump-backed Harriet Hageman crushed Liz Cheney by nearly 40 points in the Republican Primary for Wyoming’s At-Large Congressional seat.
But apparently Liz Cheney didn’t learn her lesson.
And Liz Cheney just went on CNN and humiliated herself in front of the entire world.
Maggie Haberman, a CNN contributor and reporter for The New York Times, is known for using anonymous sources in her stories to make claims about Donald Trump that are later proven false.
Without citing any evidence, Haberman claims in her new book that anonymous sources told her Donald Trump would refuse to leave office if he lost the election to Joe Biden.
Of course, this did not happen.
Trump left office on January 20 2021, just like the Constitution prescribes.
Even though this is clearly another anti-Trump lie, Liz Cheney couldn’t help but pick up the ball and run with it herself.
During an interview with CNN, Cheney used the anecdote from Haberman’s book as proof that Donald Trump posed a dangerous threat to the Republic.
“I obviously haven’t seen her book, but sometimes people will say, ‘Well, you know, what happened wasn’t that big a deal because if Mike Pence had rejected a slate of electors, the Supreme Court would have sorted it out. There are a lot of ways people sort of say this wasn’t as dangerous as it really was. And when you hear something like that, I think you have to recognize that we were in no man’s land and territory we’ve never been in before as a nation,” Cheney stated.
“When you think about, well, the Supreme Court would have sorted it out, you have to ask yourself, but who would have enforced the rulings of the court? And if you have a President who’s refusing to leave the White House or who’s saying he refuses to leave the White House, then anyone who sort of stands aside and says someone else will handle it is themselves putting the nation at risk. It is clear that when you were at the moment that we faced, everyone had to stand up and take responsibility. And I think that’s not surprising that those are the sentiments that he reportedly expressed. I think, again, it just affirms the reality of the danger,” Cheney concluded.
Cheney’s interview with CNN showed why she lost her recent Primary by nearly 40 points to Trump-backed Harriet Hageman.
Republican voters don’t mind if an elected GOP official criticizes Trump or disagrees with him on occasion.
But it infuriates the GOP base to hear an elected Republican repeating the same lies and smears about Trump as the Fake News Media and the Democrats.
Liz Cheney put her entire career in jeopardy by waging war against Donald Trump.
And not only did she end her career, but she also crushed any chance of hope for a political future.
