Liz Cheney thought her work on Nancy Pelosi’s sham January 6 Committee would lead to Donald Trump facing prison time.
But now the tide has turned.
And Liz Cheney was spitting mad after Ted Cruz exposed the criminal actions that could send her to jail.
Ted Cruz says Liz Cheney belongs behind bars
Joe Biden recently awarded Liz Cheney the Presidential Citizens Medal.
The Presidential Citizens Medal is the second highest honor the President can award an American civilian.
Biden bestowed this honor on Cheney as a thank-you for her role in the January 6 Committee that attempted, and failed, to frame Donald Trump for criminal charges of inciting an insurrection to overthrow the government.
But the medal around her neck may not be the only favor Biden grants Cheney.
A preemptive pardon for any crimes Cheney may have committed in the course of her work on the January 6 Committee may be in the offing before Biden leaves office.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz laid out why Biden may feel the need to pardon Cheney.
Cruz wrote on social media that Cheney “tampered with a witness” which normally lands the offender in jail.
“This is truly unbelievable. Liz Cheney tampered with a witness. Outside of DC, that doesn’t get you a medal; it gets you jail time,” Cruz wrote on X.
Cruz was referring to allegations made by the House Administration Oversight Subcommittee that Cheney tampered with former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson ahead of her testimony before the January 6 Committee.
Numerous federal laws likely broken by Cheney
The subcommittee’s report recommended Cheney face an FBI investigation into her conduct.
“Based on the evidence obtained by this Subcommittee, numerous federal laws were likely broken by Liz Cheney, the former Vice Chair of the January 6 Select Committee, and these violations should be investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” the committee’s report stated.
Cheney went behind the back of Hutchinson’s attorney – a violation of professional ethics for a licensed attorney like Cheney – to arrange for Hutchinson to testify in public before the committee.
Hutchinson then delivered false testimony describing a scene that never took place where Donald Trump allegedly tried to attack his Secret Service driver and commandeer his vehicle upon learning his detail wouldn’t take him to the Capitol following his January 6 rally speech.
“Tony described him as being irate. The president said something to the effect of ‘I’m the f’ing president, take me up to the Capitol now,’ to which Bobby responded, ‘sir, we have to go back to the West Wing.’ The President reached up towards the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel. Mr. Engel grabbed his arm, said, ‘Sir, you need to take your hand off the steering wheel,'” Hutchinson told the committee.
The Secret Service driver later testified that this story was a complete work of fiction.
“I did not see him reach. He never grabbed the steering wheel,” the driver testified. “I didn’t see him, you know, lunge to try to get into the front seat at all.”
“What stood out was the irritation in [Mr. Trump’s] voice more than his physical presence, which would have been pretty obvious if he was trying to insert himself between the two front seats,” the driver also told the committee.
The subcommittee that investigated the January 6 Committee and Ted Cruz both believe that Liz Cheney potentially tampered with a witness who delivered false testimony under oath.
And that’s why Cheney should face an immediate and thorough criminal investigation into her actions.
