Once the darling of the political left, Maher has maintained that in recent years the Democrat Party has gotten so radical it leaves him looking like a right-winger.
The reality is Maher seems to be just an old-school liberal who actually has some principles and common sense.
And most observers know that Maher is no lightweight when it comes to verbal sparring matches.
And many times that sparring is with conservative icons.
But lately Maher has been taking it to radical leftists.
That didn’t stop Neil deGrasse Tyson from appearing on Maher’s show and throwing down the gauntlet.
And Maher lost it when Tyson issued this outrageous complaint.
Tyson is a noted astrophysicist who is a celebrity in his field, and among the Left.
But he proved even the smartest of scientists have no common sense after he caved in and bowed down to the woke mob.
Then he doubled down on his error by trying to take Bill Maher to task over refusing to compromise his liberal philosophy to accommodate the whims of radical leftist snowflakes.
Tyson was appearing on Bill Maher’s show when he complained that the comedian has “abandoned college campuses.”
Maher fired back saying that “every comedian has…literally everyone.”
Tyson then challenged Maher to explain how he would navigate this new woke reality as if he were a new comedian starting out in 2023.
“Would you just develop a whole other comedic repertoire that does not end up having people picket outside your thing? Are you just transposed and you’re not adjusting to the shifting terrain?” Tyson asked.
And then Tyson asked the comedian, “So, why is it their fault and not your fault?”
Then, after some back and forth, Maher asked the scientist point blank, “Am I not woke enough for you?”
Tyson, who claims Maher was “good” in the 70s when he would “read the room,” claimed the comedian could surely find “a portfolio of jokes that would work on a college campus.”
“I would hope not,” Maher fired back. “Maybe some college campuses. The ones you read about are f****** insane.”
Tyson then took things even further by complaining that Maher has “given up on an entire generation.”
“I have given up on any place that doesn’t even remotely attempt to believe in free speech,” Maher fired back.
He then added that it’s also a generation that “thinks that anything they hear that they don’t like, that they don’t agree with is violence.”
“These people are f****** nuts,” Maher went on addressing Tyson. “And you should be calling them out.”
Maher then blasted Tyson, saying the pop scientist, as a celebrity who many kids look up to, is actually a big part of the problem.
“You’re doing what parents do – you’re taking the path of least resistance. And therefore, hurting the kids, and yourself,” the comedian ranted. “Parents ruin both their lives. They ruin their f***** spoiled kids lives, and they ruin their own lives if the kids rule the roost. So that’s what you’re doing on a national level.”
While Bill Maher remains a leftist, he at least has shown he has a little common sense, and that is something the radical Left just can’t accept.
