Democrats have spent the past seven years engaging in countless witch hunts for the sole purpose of throwing Donald Trump in prison.
They finally thought they had him on the hook.
And Manhattan’s Democrat DA just made one move that had Democrats giddy over a possible Trump indictment.
Late last week, The New York Times reported that Manhattan Democrat District Attorney Alvin Bragg had invited former President Donald Trump to testify before the grand jury convened to determine whether he will be indicted for an allegedly illicit payment to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016.
As the so-called “paper of record” pointed out, that typically indicates that the defendant – aka Trump – will soon be indicted on criminal charges.
Of course, Bragg’s predecessor and the Biden Department of Justice had already chosen not to bring this case forward, as they didn’t have the evidence, but he’s pushed forward nonetheless.
The only problem is, the Democrat District Attorney is apparently attempting to invent a completely new legal theory in order to elevate the charges against the former President from a misdemeanor for falsifying business records – Trump’s company had labeled the payment “legal fees” which prosecutors claim was an intentional attempt to cover the payment up – to a felony violation of New York’s campaign finance laws.
Now, Democrats’ joy over the prospect of an impending Trump indictment has turned into fear that the bloodlust for Trump that’s driving Bragg’s move could blow up in their face.
During a recent appearance on CNN, radical left-wing New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman explained that a judge could very well look at the “exotic case” – aka a totally farfetched Hail Mary that has no business anywhere near a legitimate court of law – and completely reject Bragg’s invented legal theory.
“Exotic, it’s an exotic case,” Haberman said. “And a judge could decide, no, we’re going to get back to a misdemeanor. That is difficult for a prosecutor when it’s a former President. I understand, you know, justice is supposed to be equal, you know, for all. But, you know, people take into consideration factors like this.”
Haberman also pointed out that if the judge rejects Bragg’s invented legal theory, it will simply result in turning more Americans off to the endless witch hunts.
“I think we could see a rallying effect from his supporters,” she added. “It could be that more people are turned off by this. I just don’t think we know. We know how he will use it, which is that he will say he’s being attacked and victimized. And we have seen that over and over again. We’re going to continue to.”
From there, the New York Times reporter went on to lay out other issues with the strategy of indicting Trump in the case, such as the fact that the Democrat DA’s top witness against Trump is noted liar and felon, former Trump attorney Michael Cohen.
On top of that, Haberman also pointed out that Bragg had previously passed on indicting the former President on separate tax allegations – just as his predecessor did – because that case too was paper thin.
“Yeah, look, and what I think Michael Cohen would say as a witness, and has said before is that he, you know, he lied on Trump’s behalf,” Haberman explained. “And I think you would hear him say that in this case. You did have Alvin Bragg decide not to bring a prosecution against Trump in connection with his actual business despite proceeding against his business. And they got a conviction across the board in 17 counts in that case, I don’t know.”
“It’s different when you’re prosecuting a faceless company than it is prosecuting a man,” she continued. “I do think it’s worth noting here, putting aside issues of Michael Cohen specifically, or that the prospective thinness of the case, take it all together. It requires 12 people and it just takes one person to have reasonable doubt. And even in pretty progressive Manhattan, I think probably a defense lawyer could find one person. And that’s a risk here.”
Manhattan Democrat District Attorney Alvin Bragg represents Democrats’ last, best chance at finally throwing Donald Trump in jail – not counting the witch hunts they’ll inevitably invent in the future, of course.
And he could very well be on the verge of simply being the next in a long line of Democrats who have tried and failed to finally “get” the former President.
