After a humiliating Midterm election when the expected “red wave” failed to show up, the GOP is finally starting to head off the excesses and questionable conduct they’ve claimed are rampant under Democrat rule.
Rep. Adam Schiff (R-CA) is at the center of that effort.
Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has introduced legislation that would call on the House to vote on whether Rep. Adam Schiff should be banned from accessing and viewing any classified information.
Gaetz’s move follows Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) decision to block Adam Schiff from continuing on the House Intelligence Committee.
Presumably, that move had a lot to do with Schiff’s recent announcement he’s running for the California US Senate currently held by Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).
While some may write off Gaetz’s action as a form of retaliation for putting up with years of Schiff’s partisan actions as committee chairman, there’s more to the story.
During a recent interview on Fox News, former CIA Director and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed the California Congressman has a propensity to leak classified information.
“During my time as CIA director and secretary of state, I know that he leaked classified information that had been provided to him. It’s a complicated process, right? It’s difficult to pin down precisely what happened,” Pompeo explained. “But I could tell you that when we provided information to him and to his staff, it ended up in places it shouldn’t have been with alarming regularity. We could see it.”
“In the end, I decided, I held back information from them as a result,” he added. “The fact that Schiff was the Chairman of the Intelligence Committee almost ruined that committee. Schiff should be nowhere near serving on the Intelligence Committee. I don’t think he should be seeing classified information.”
Schiff has no one to blame for what’s happening now other than his own behavior over the past four years.
Gaetz deserves credit for bringing a greater focus on Schiff and what’s corruption between Congressional Democrats and the Department of Justice.
