The Disney-owned ESPN network has become less a sports network and more a leftist political mouthpiece.
Ironically, the network was originally co-founded in 1978 by someone much more known for his political work as a pollster – and a pollster often accused of being pro-GOP at that – namely Scott Rasmussen.
Long after Rasmussen, who’s polling has often been accused of being pro-GOP, sold the company five years after he and his father started it in the late seventies, today it’s owned by Disney.
And now, a star employee who just quit has revealed how completely woke the network has become to Megyn Kelly.
Sage Steele, the popular ESPN Sportscenter anchor, recently announced she had finally settled her lawsuit with ESPN.
She also announced she was leaving the company so she could better exercise her Constitutional right to free speech.
Steele sued ESPN after the network suspended her following a 2021 interview on former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler’s podcast.
During the podcast, Steele correctly called ESPN’s COVID vaccine mandate “sick and scary.”
The ESPN anchor then admitted she was pressured into taking the vaccine under the threat of losing her job.
This was an ultimatum Steele said she believed no one should ever have to face.
Steele, who happens to be of mixed race, also criticized Barack Obama for identifying as black when he has a white mother.
ESPN, which allows and even seemingly promotes left-wing political activism from its on-air talent, benched Steele for weeks for daring to speak her mind.
But it turns out things are even worse at the once proud sports network.
In her recent interview with Megyn Kelly, Steele revealed she was even terrified to go back to work.
She said she believed the network’s left-wing workforce turned against her over her opposition to COVID vaccine mandates and criticizing Barack Obama.
“I was mad, but more than anything, I was devastated because I had been such a good soldier, such a good employee for 17 years and proud of it,” Steele explained.
“I was scared to go back to work when I got off of my suspension. I was so scared. Because I had been made to believe that everybody hated me. And you don’t just walk back in and work, you walk back in and you have to perform on live national television in front of millions of people.”
Steele told Kelly her dream was always to be a sportscaster and that she never let the fact that ESPN had punished her for her political views affect her ability to do her job.
“That’s what I’m most proud of,” Steele added.
“Is that I was able to compartmentalize much better than I ever dreamt. And to have this ongoing for 22 months, from the beginning, from when I was first punished, to Monday, I went back in there and I stood tall and had great conversations with producers and was passionate about every single interview, every single segment. You can ask them. It’s just what I’ve done my whole life. Why am I going to stop just because there’s this other crap going on, as wrong as it might be. But I walked in there every day, and I did it.”
No wonder the American people have tuned out of ESPN’s woke leftist programming.
