At this point, Bill Maher has been around the block more than a time or two.
There’s little he hasn’t seen in his decades in the entertainment industry.
But Michael Douglas confessed this unbelievable act to Bill Maher he committed in the wake of Trump’s victory.
They never saw it coming
Since President-elect Donald Trump won the 2024 election, Democrats have been trying to make sense of exactly what went wrong.
Unfortunately for them, they still haven’t figured it out.
And while most Democrats are suffering in the midst of their respective bouts with Trump Derangement Syndrome, others, like HBO Real Time host Bill Maher, are taking a different approach.
“A lot of people are freaking out,” Maher said immediately following the election. “You know what? I opened the window today, the sun was still shining, the birds were still singing, my gardener was packing for Mexico.”
Maher has also chastised his fellow Democrats for being so disconnected from reality that they didn’t even consider the possibility that Trump could actually win the race.
“For months, Democrats have been saying, ‘How is this even close?’” Maher said. “And they’re right, it wasn’t. They could not conceive of a second Trump term, but they should have. When does America ever turn down seconds?”
The comedian then brought out actor Michael Douglas, who also expressed his anger with the fact that Democrats and their media allies spent months convincing people like him that the race was “razor-thin.”
“The other thing I just have to share – after Tuesday night, Wednesday morning, [I’m] just so pissed at this razor-thin race,” Douglas said.
Picking up the pieces
But Douglas also threw Maher a curveball when he explained how he dealt with Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss.
The actor explained that in order to get his mind off the election the morning after Trump was declared the clear winner, he went golfing.
And despite only playing nine holes, he somehow managed to snag a hole-in-one.
“It was gonna be so close, with all these polls – and it’s a wipeout,” Douglas added. “I had no idea how that could happen. So, I go down Wednesday morning to play golf just to clear my mind. I go play nine holes, and I get a hole-in-one.”
But despite it all, Douglas still finds himself dismayed over the reality that Democrats are now the party of the elites while Republicans are the multi-racial, working class party.
“The very fact now that we can talk about Republicans as being the party for the people, and we are this elitist party on the Left, Democrats, is wild,” Douglas admitted.
Slowly but surely, Democrats nationwide are starting to realize that when it comes to Donald Trump, they’ve been lied to and gaslit for nearly a decade.
And whether they want to admit it or not, they have plenty of soul searching to do over these next few years.
