Donald Trump is determined to finish what he started with a second term in office.
But he’s facing a stunning challenge to his leadership of the Republican Party.
And Mike Pence just invited Donald Trump to a brawl that will floor you.
Apparently, Donald Trump’s former Vice President plans to run for the top job — even if his old boss is in the race.
Pence has been busy setting himself apart from Trump for months now—and not in a good way.
The latest example of his effort to part ways with Trump was illustrated when he endorsed establishment-backed candidate for Governor in Arizona Karrin Taylor Robson.
Ahead of the primary election, Pence called Taylor Robson “the best choice for Arizona’s future.”
“As Arizona Democrats pursue the reckless Biden-Harris agenda, Karrin Taylor Robson is the only candidate for governor that will keep Arizona’s border secure and streets safe, empower parents and create great schools, and promote conservative values,” Pence proclaimed.
In turn, the candidate gushed about Pence’s endorsement.
“Modern politics is full of charlatans and fakes, but Vice President Pence is the genuine article,” Taylor Robson wrote in a statement sent to The Washington Post. “He has never wavered in his conservative beliefs and commitment to our Constitution, and left a rock-solid legacy as Governor to which I will aspire.”
Taylor Robson also gained support from Arizona’s RINO Governor Doug Ducey who kept school children masked up and the state locked down in 2020.
Pence had to know that endorsing Taylor Robson was a deliberate choice to face off against his former boss, Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, Trump endorsed former TV anchor Kari Lake for governor in Arizona — and she’s led every poll since she won the Republican leader’s backing.
Lake is advocating America First positions including fighting back against Biden’s illegal open borders and tackling cultural issues like banning drag shows in schools.
She also wants to put cameras in classrooms so parents can see if teachers are indoctrinating their children with Critical Race Theory.
But the biggest bone Lake and Taylor Robson have to pick with each other is whether the 2020 election was legitimate.
Lake called the situation “rotten to the core” and is calling for investigations into how Biden emerged the winner.
“I refuse to stop talking about it until our elected officials stand up and do something,” Lake said. “We want people to be arrested, prosecuted and thrown in jail.”
It appears plenty of Arizona Republicans share her suspicions.
Lake is maintaining her lead over Robson as the primary approaches.
And what happens in that Arizona primary may amount to a proxy war for the Republican nomination for President in 2024.
