Republican voters are wondering who will run for President against Joe Biden in 2024.
Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and several other high-profile Republicans are reportedly thinking about running in 2024.
But Mike Pence may be worried about his political future after he hears what Donald Trump said about replacing him with this one Republican.
The Republican National Committee recently held a donor retreat at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida that culminated with a fiery speech from the former President.
During his speech, Trump brought Florida Governor Ron DeSantis up on stage with him, leading to speculation that Trump is planning to replace Mike Pence with Ron DeSantis is he runs again in 2024.
POLITICO reports:
Notably, Trump allowed DeSantis to share the stage with him. While Trump used his speech to share with donors that he was “disappointed” in Pence, he has privately told advisers that if he runs again, he wants DeSantis as his running mate.
Even though Mike Pence claims he and President Trump are on friendly terms, Trump launched into a round of attacks against Pence over the weekend for not rejecting certified results from states that Trump claimed were the result of massive voter fraud.
Of course, Pence defends himself by claiming he had no such authority under the Constitution to reject the results.
But Trump bringing Ron DeSantis on stage while at the same time attacking Mike Pence could be a sign that Trump is planning on ditching Pence for DeSantis in 2024.
On the other hand, Ron DeSantis has been enjoying extremely high popularity in conservative and Republican circles.
He may not want to run as a Vice President alongside Donald Trump if he thinks he’s more than able to capture enough support from the conservative base.
