All the polls show Donald Trump is still the unquestioned frontrunner for the GOP Presidential nomination.
And that’s why people are already wondering who Trump might pick to be his running mate.
Obviously, Donald Trump won’t be running with former Vice President Mike Pence this go round.
That means Trump will need to find a fresh new face to serve as a running mate in 2024.
There have been a number of rumors and predictions, but the Daily Caller is now reporting the strong possibility Trump will pick a Republican woman to join the ticket.
A top GOP consultant close to Trump recently told the Daily Caller the two traits Trump wants most in a running mate are the ability to present well on television and loyalty.
“We do know one thing about Trump, is that he puts a lot of weight on how well you present yourself. That really matters to him, so I suspect that will matter for his VP choice,” the consultant told the Daily Caller.
And he made it very clear in his comments that any Trump pick for Vice President would be “TV ready.”
The source went on, “Loyalty. That’s the necessary characteristic of anyone who wants to be VP. President Trump and the movement was dragged down by disloyalty in the White House.”
As most readers know, in Trump’s first administration, the former President got dragged down by poor hiring decisions such as former National Security Advisor John Bolton, “Mad Dog” Mattis, and others who were not committed to Trump or his America First conservative agenda.
The consultant also said Trump would be open to picking a woman as his running mate since his biggest political vulnerability is with suburban women.
“I think he would very much be open to a female . . . it depends. I don’t believe in diversity for the sake of diversity when it comes to elections and political figures, but I think there are people out there that are female that would be good fits for him,” the consultant stated.
And a Pro-Life woman could also help Republicans fend off attacks from Democrats on abortion that are sure to come in a general election.
One official who supports Trump has floated the idea of New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik as Trump’s running mate.
“It’s always seemed to me that it will be a woman. Whenever I’ve talked to people who worked in Trump world, it’s always assumed to be someone like Elise Stefanik or some other woman candidate,” the official told the Daily Caller.
Stefanik became a household name by using her position on the House Intelligence Committee to defend Trump in the first impeachment hoax trial over Ukraine.
And in 2021, House Republicans booted House Conference Chair Liz Cheney and replaced her with Stefanik.
But the problem is conservatives would not be happy with Stefanik on the ticket.
Stefanik was a Paul Ryan supporter who also worked in the Bush administration.
And after being elected to Congress, Stefanik cast some bad votes that the conservative base just can’t accept.
She voted 14 times for amnesty, special rights for transgenders that allowed biological males to use the woman’s bathroom, and for gun control.
Donald Trump could make a far better choice than Elise Stefanik and conservatives are hoping Trump looks elsewhere for a running mate.
