One of America's great cities is slipping into the hands of the radical left.
An alarming video just surfaced that has conservatives nationwide demanding answers.
And Omar Fateh sparked outrage with one jaw-dropping move at his Minneapolis rally.
Socialist candidate pledges loyalty to Somalia while running for Minneapolis mayor
Viral footage that emerged Thursday shows 35-year-old Minnesota State Senator Omar Fateh waving a Somali flag and speaking entirely in Somali or Arabic at a campaign rally for his Minneapolis mayoral bid.¹
The video, filmed at what appears to be an August rally at the Brian Coyle Community Center, captures Fateh smiling and pledging his loyalty to Somalia while urging supporters to vote for him in November.²
Not a single American flag appears in the footage.
Not one word of English was spoken to the crowd.
Conservative social media exploded with fury as the video spread like wildfire across platforms.
"Omar Fateh holds a rally in Somalia, speaking in his native language. Just kidding. This is Minneapolis," wrote one prominent conservative account, adding: "All of these f***s need to be deported."³
House Majority Whip Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) didn't mince words about the disturbing display.
"This is the least shocking news: There were almost no American flags at a @OmarFatehMN rally," Emmer posted on X.⁴
Emmer added that's exactly what you get when Democrats back candidates who put America last.
The backlash intensified when conservatives discovered Fateh's own Democratic Party had already revoked his endorsement back in August after finding "substantial failures" in the convention voting process.⁵
Fateh's radical agenda would turn Minneapolis into a sanctuary for criminals
Fateh's pledge to Somalia is just the tip of the iceberg.
The democratic socialist has laid out a stunning agenda that would fundamentally transform Minneapolis into a haven for illegal aliens while hamstringing law enforcement.
Fateh has vowed to ban the Minneapolis Police Department from any cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, even during federal raids on criminal aliens.⁶
"Our residents deserve a mayor that will stand up to Donald Trump and say 'no, not in our community,'" Fateh declared, making clear he'd accept higher crime rates rather than work with ICE.⁷
His extremist platform includes pushing the minimum wage to $20 an hour by 2028, which would bankrupt small businesses operating on razor-thin margins.⁸
Fateh also wants to impose rent control, which economists across the political spectrum agree destroys housing markets and drives away investment.
But the socialist's most dangerous proposal targets public safety directly.
Fateh advocates for "diverting" 911 calls away from the Minneapolis Police Department to social workers, claiming 47% of emergency calls don't require armed officers.⁹
Criminals are licking their chops at the thought of responding social workers instead of trained police officers.
This is straight from the "defund the police" playbook that Democrats swore they'd abandoned after the George Floyd riots devastated Minneapolis.
Democrats scramble as their socialist experiment implodes
The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party found itself in an unprecedented crisis after endorsing Fateh at a chaotic July convention.¹⁰
The state party investigation uncovered a disaster: close to 200 ballots went missing, the delegate check-in spreadsheet sat exposed to tampering, and an entire ward's delegate credentials were never properly verified.¹¹
State DFL Chair Richard Carlbom had no choice but to revoke the endorsement, placing the Minneapolis chapter on two years probation.¹²
But the damage to party unity was already done.
U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and other progressives erupted in fury, condemning the state party for "overturning the will of Minneapolis delegates."¹³
The internal Democrat war exposed the growing rift between establishment moderates terrified of losing suburban voters and radical socialists who dominate the party's activist base.
Fateh's campaign doubled down after losing the endorsement, even illegally distributing yard signs claiming DFL backing for days after the revocation.¹⁴
A judge later fined the campaign $500 for the violation, though ruling there was no evidence of intentional deception.¹⁵
The socialist's problems didn't end there.
In September, his campaign office was vandalized with threatening Islamophobic graffiti reading "Somali Muslim — this warning is no joke."¹⁶
Even Mayor Jacob Frey, Fateh's opponent, condemned the vandalism and offered city resources to help.
But the ugly incident highlighted the explosive tensions surrounding a candidate who waves foreign flags while seeking to lead an American city.
Minneapolis voters head to the polls in November facing a stark choice between Frey's moderate approach and Fateh's radical transformation of their city into a socialist sanctuary.
The Somalia flag-waving video crystallized conservatives' worst fears about where unfettered immigration and identity politics are taking America's once-great cities.
