Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is catching flak over a promise to Ukraine that included comments characterized as effectively raising a fist and extending the middle finger to American voters.

Recently, McConnell and Vice President Kamala Harris teamed up to travel to the Munich Security Conference in order to present a united front to the international community on the Biden regime’s proxy war with Russia in Ukraine.

Senator McConnell and Vice President Harris wanted to reassure Ukraine, the rest of Europe, and other NATO nations that America’s ruling class elites – both Republicans and Democrats – were all-in on ensuring American taxpayers continue providing a blank check to the effort.

However, polls show working class Americans are running out of patience with an establishment that consistently prioritizes other countries while the U.S. crumbles.

Just 48% of Americans support the decision to continue sending military aid to Ukraine, according to a recent Associated Press poll conducted by the University of Chicago’s independent research center NORC.

And that poll also shows that Republicans are largely driving the opposition to Biden’s proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, as a majority of GOP voters don’t support the blank check the Biden regime and establishment Republicans have given Ukraine.

Nevertheless, Senator McConnell didn’t hesitate to stand before the Munich Security Conference and swear to the whole world that Republicans support the effort.

In fact, McConnell even went a step further and told those in attendance not to have any fear about American taxpayers not footing the bill for the war in Ukraine because it’s not actually the will of the American people that matters, but rather those “in power.”

“Reports about the death of Republican support for strong American leadership in the world have been greatly exaggerated,” McConnell proclaimed. “My Party’s leaders overwhelmingly support a strong, involved America and a robust trans-Atlantic alliance. Don’t look at Twitter, look at people in power.”

On top of that, the Kentucky Senator even claimed – without providing any evidence or examples to back up his assertion – that President Biden’s proxy war with Russia in Ukraine was somehow one of America’s “core national interests.”

“Republican leaders are committed to a strong trans-Atlantic alliance,” McConnell added. “We are committed to helping Ukraine. Not because of vague moral arguments or abstractions like the so-called ‘rules-based international order.’ But rather, because America’s own core national interests are at stake. Because our security is interlinked, and our economies are intertwined.”

Such statements from US officials and promise of unending support to prop a foreign nation are drawing ire from ordinary Americans.

Especially, in the wake of unraveling domestic conditions and immediate threats to Americans’ health and prosperity with disasters like the East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment in which officials purposely burned toxic chemicals, decimating area residents’ property values and leaving  air and water supplies – potentially even in McConnell’s own state – contaminated.

While those Americans have been left waiting on answers, McConnell has sided with virtually all of the most damaging aspects of Biden and Democrats’ America LAST agenda, including supporting a so-called “infrastructure” bill that spent more on left-wing special interests than actual roads and bridges, doing nothing to solve the Biden border crisis, and voting for other socialist spending sprees that helped balloon the national debt to nearly $32 trillion.

What’s more, while giving Ukraine billions of taxpayer dollars to secure their own borders, McConnell helped lead the charge to pass Democrats’ $1.7 trillion government funding bill at the end of last year, even though it explicitly forbade Border Patrol from using any of the funds allocated to the agency for border security.

Mitch McConnell clearly believes his claim that the war in Ukraine is the GOP’s number one priority.

But that doesn’t seem to be the case with ordinary Americans, including most of the Republican Party rank and file voters.
