Mitch McConnell has proven that he will go to great lengths to retain control over Senate Republicans.
That includes intentionally tanking one of the most winnable Midterm elections in American history, as he’d rather control a minority than have less control over a majority.
But Mitch McConnell was blinded after this top Republican spilled the truth about his “treasonous” ways.
For a decade and a half now, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has been the supposed “leader” of Senate Republicans, and as a result, he’s put himself in a position to have more say in Republican U.S. Senate Primaries across the nation than the actual voters.
Essentially, so long as Mitch McConnell deems a candidate worthy – aka they bend the knee to the establishment and swear fealty to McConnell above all else – they’ll have a fighting chance against Democrats.
If not, they’ll be left high and dry, even in extremely winnable races that could make or break the future of America.
That has never been proven more than right now, as Senator McConnell has already waved the white flag and declared Democrats will win control of the U.S. Senate in November simply because candidates endorsed by Donald Trump won the GOP Primaries in several crucial races.
He’s even gone so far as to outright trash Trump-endorsed candidates – the very candidates representing the Party he’s supposedly a part of – claiming Republicans can’t win in November’s Midterms simply because of “candidate quality.”
But one top Republican who’s not going to stand for Mitch McConnell continuing to proclaim himself the ultimate gatekeeper of Republican elections, is Senator Rick Scott (R-FL).
As the Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Senator Scott is doing everything he can to help push all Republican Senate candidates across the finish line – even those abandoned by Mitch McConnell and the establishment.
And in an op-ed for The Washington Examiner, Scott blasted Senator McConnell and the rest of the establishment for once again attempting to lose Republicans’ the Senate, even going so far as to call it an “act of cowardice,” and downright “treasonous to the conservative cause.”
“Unfortunately, many of the very people responsible for losing the Senate last cycle are now trying to stop us from winning the majority this time by trash-talking our Republican candidates,” Scott explained. “It’s an amazing act of cowardice, and ultimately, it’s treasonous to the conservative cause. Giving anonymous quotes to help The Washington Post or The New York Times write stories trashing Republicans is the same as working with the Democratic National Committee.”
From there, Scott proceeded to rightly point out that by continuing to pretend that he – and he alone – controls who Republican voters cast their ballots for, Mitch McConnell is proving that he, and his establishment elite friends, “loathe” Republicans’ working class voters.
“Ultimately, though, when you complain and lament that we have “bad candidates,” what you are really saying is that you have contempt for the voters who chose them,” the Senator wrote. “Now we are at the heart of the matter. Much of Washington’s chattering class disrespects and secretly (or not so secretly) loathes Republican voters.”
“These self-appointed “smart guys” in Washington think they (not the voters) should be able to choose our candidates,” he continued. “The D.C. crowd should not choose candidates, and they do not, and they will not. The D.C. crowd did not choose me and actively opposed me in 2010 when I ran for governor in the Florida Republican primary. If the D.C. crowd was right, I wouldn’t be in the Senate.”
It should tell voters everything they need to know about the Republican establishment that Mitch McConnell is waving the white flag on the 2022 Midterms with two full months still left in the race.
Mind you, Democrats are running candidates in many U.S. Senate races, like Pennsylvania Lt. Governor John Fetterman, who are completely incapable of even putting two sentences together.
Not to mention the fact that all of the Democrat candidates are exclusively pushing a left-wing extremist agenda that is so out-of-touch with the American people, if Republicans simply pushed back a little, they’d be able to win control of the Senate.
Nevertheless, Senator McConnell and the rest of the establishment elite are content to flush the nation down the drain in the name of staying in control of the Party.
They’re happy to watch America burn to the ground, so long as they’re able to stand on top of the ashes and proclaim themselves in charge.
There’s simply no real difference between establishment Republicans and Democrats when “Republicans” like Mitch McConnell are actively helping elect left-wing extremists.
And as a result, unless the American people take matters into their own hands and elect populist Republicans who will fight for working class Americans, the Midterms will be a disaster.
