Mitt Romney stuck to his ‘never-Trump” guns when it came time to vote.
Romney thought he would get some reaction from Republicans in Congress.
But now he is about to lose his job and no one could believe who wants him gone.
Mitt Romney has been an outspoken ‘never-Trumper’ from the very beginning.
So when given the opportunity to betray President Trump, the Republican Party, and the American voters – he just couldn’t help himself.
While voting to convict President Trump in an impeachment hoax and attempted political coup Romney knew he would receive some repercussions from the Republican Party.
However, he was comfortable in twisting the knife in the back of the President thinking his standing in Utah would carry him.
Romney had previously enjoyed a hero’s welcome in Utah for having rescued the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City from scandal.
Meanwhile, President Trump had only won Utah with 45% of the vote in 2016 and his approval there was certainly not as high as elsewhere in the country.
But in owning his title of “Republican In Name Only,” Romney sorely miscalculated how his betrayal of the President and GOP would be seen in Utah.
Not only did President Trump surge in Utah – Utah State Rep. Ted Quinn filed to add a measure on the Utah ballot that would allow the citizens to recall Senators.
While Rep. Quinn has said that the bill was not meant to target Romney and he had been working on it for the past year – the timing could not be any more decisive.
Rep. Quinn pointed out that the bill would allow the people of Utah a “good mechanism in place to make any senator, current or future, a little more accountable to those who elected him or her.”
Mitt Romney is starting to see the writing on the wall.
Trump supporters across America are livid with his betrayal of what little trust they put in him.
Grassroots Americans who voted for Trump in 2016 have no interest in seeing that election undone by butt-hurt, radically partisan Senators like RINO ‘Never Trump’ pundit Mitt Romney.
And for that betrayal of trust, Mitt Romney may just find himself out of a job.
