MSNBC has been home to some of the most rabidly left-wing news anchors, reporters, and guests in the mainstream media.
In fact, they make leftist CNN look almost reasonable…almost.
But the recent brutal Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel exposed a major problem on the Left.
Large numbers of the Democrat Party base began pro-Hamas protests in the streets of major cities and on college campuses.
And big-name Democrat lawmakers like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib also expressed pro-Palestinian views.
The pro-Hamas sentiment has also spilled over into the mainstream corporate media.
Not surprisingly, many of the leading reporters and hosts on major news networks are strongly pro-Hamas.
But the atrocities by Hamas against civilians finally became too gruesome to bear, even for MSNBC.
Of course, they only took action after the divide on the Left between supporters for Israel, and supporters of Hamas caused a massive decrease in ratings.
In fact, since the Hamas attack on Israel MSNBC has lost 33 percent of their viewers.
That was just too many lost viewers for MSNBC to sit idly by.
So MSNBC took action and supposedly suspended its three Muslim anchors – Ali Velshi, Mehdi Hasan, and Ayman Mohyeldin.
The suspensions came after all three gave pro-Palestinian commentary that upset viewers and colleagues alike.
“MSNBC has quietly taken three of its Muslim broadcasters out of the anchor’s chair since Hamas’s attack on Israel last Saturday amid America’s wave of sympathy for Israeli terror victims,” Semafor reports.
Semafor is a news website founded in 2022 by Ben Smith, former editor-in-chief of BuzzFeed News and media columnist at The New York Times, and Justin B. Smith, the former CEO of Bloomberg Media Group.
“The network did not air a scheduled Thursday night episode of The Mehdi Hasan Show on the streaming platform Peacock. MSNBC also reversed a plan for Ayman Mohyeldin to fill in this week on the network for host Joy Reid’s 7 p.m. show on Thursday and Friday. Mohyeldin, an Egyptian-American journalist and veteran NBC News correspondent covered the conflict from Gaza for two years. In 2021, he aggressively questioned Israeli leaders on strikes on the territory. Two network sources with knowledge of the plans told Semafor that the network also plans to have Alicia Menendez fill in this upcoming weekend for Ali Velshi, a third Muslim-American host who on Sunday interviewed a spokesman for the Palestinian Authority” Semafor added.
Before the move the Anti-Defamation League’s President — former Obama administration official, Jonathan Greenblatt — had called MSNBC out, slamming the leftist network and asking if “Hamas wrote their scripts” after anchors referred to the terrorists as militants and fighters.
Conservatives have long pondered if there was any line that MSNBC’s left-wing on-air talent could cross that would finally be too much for network execs to defend.
It turns out that openly-defending terrorists who target Jews might actually be where MSNBC draws that line.
