After all these years Nancy Pelosi is used to getting her way.
But lately things seem to be unraveling on her.
And Nancy Pelosi blew a gasket after her left-wing policies came back to bite her.
Democrat-controlled cities and states across America have seen a major spike in crime in recent years thanks to the Left’s soft-on crime policies.
They’ve completely opened the border, nurtured the nation’s immigration laws, instituted cashless bail and released prisoners early putting criminals on the streets, and even tied law enforcement’s hands behind their back so they can’t actually enforce the law.
Of course, the Democrat politicians and bureaucrats instituting these policies, and working to force them on the rest of the nation, rarely have to actually face the consequences of their policies.
But in this case, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) recently saw firsthand the results of her and her fellow Democrats’ radical left-wing agenda when her husband, Paul, was attacked by an illegal alien, nudist activist, drug addict with a hammer.
On top of that, San Francisco’s left-wing District Attorney Brooke Jenkins sent Speaker Pelosi into hysterics after she announced that the city’s status as a “sanctuary city” would prevent them from deporting Paul Pelosi’s attacker, David DePape, should he be convicted.
DePape, a Canadian national, entered the U.S. in 2008 on a temporary visa, but he never left, and proceeded to act as though he was an American citizen, even registering as a Green Party voter in California.
In the wake of his attack on Pelosi and the subsequent criminal charges filed against him, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement filed an immigration detainer on DePape to request notification of his release so he could potentially be deported.
That fact isn’t sitting well with immigration activists, like the Federation for American Immigration Reform’s Ira Mehlman, because of the potential political motive behind it.
According to Mehlman, the “mere issuance of a detainer request for DePape smacks of disparate – shall we say, inequitable – treatment because of the political connections of the victim.”
“Would ICE have bothered to ask San Francisco to detain a criminal illegal alien, if the victim had been Paul Smith or Paul Jones, instead of Paul Pelosi?” Mehlman asked rhetorically.
Of course, in reality, the ICE detainer won’t actually come into play at all, as leftists like Jenkins have decided that Democrat-controlled areas’ status as a “sanctuary city” is “sacred.”
“San Francisco is a sanctuary city and our policy is sacred,” Jenkins declared. “We will not be collaborating or coordinating with ICE.”
San Francisco law states that the city shall not “use any City funds or resources to assist in the enforcement of Federal immigration law or to gather or disseminate information regarding release status of individuals or any other such personal information.”
Now, that law – which Nancy Pelosi and every other Democrat has unwaveringly supported – is coming back to bite the Pelosis.
