Nancy Pelosi has served in Congress for more than 30 years.
But a lot of folks are wondering if this will be her last term in office.
And Nancy Pelosi’s two-word response to a retirement question made MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski grin from ear-to-ear.
In 2019, Nancy Pelosi pledged to only serve as House Speaker for two terms before stepping down from the position.
Since those two terms will be up next year, a lot of folks are wondering if Nancy Pelosi will choose to retire instead of serving in Congress as a backbencher.
However, Pelosi has been careful not to give any signals about what the future holds for her.
And during a recent interview for Forbes Women, Pelosi refused to give a direct answer when pressed by Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC, responding with “What’s that” when asked about retirement.
The Daily Caller reports:
In the interview posted by Forbes Women, Brzezinski asked Pelosi to respond to a list of words with her opinion. One of the words Brzezinski asked Pelosi to respond to was the word “retirement.” Pelosi laughed, looked at Brzezinski, and said, “What’s that?
Brzezinski laughed back and said, “Exactly.”
Of course, even if Pelosi knows her retirement plans, she’s likely keeping them to herself right now given the critical 2022 midterm elections are just around the corner.
Should Nancy Pelosi announce that she’s retiring, it could be viewed as a sign that she believes Democrats are doomed to defeat next November.
When House Speaker Paul Ryan announced he was retiring ahead of the 2018 election, Donald Trump blamed him for the losses Republicans suffered at the ballot box during the 2018 midterms.
