National Democrats are currently caught up in a number of scandals.
Party leaders are starting to worry about the scandals costing them their majorities in the next election.
But no one expected Chuck Schumer to throw this top Democrat official under the bus.
Andrew Cuomo has not had a good time the past few weeks.
His personal life and his administration has seen scandal after scandal pop up like a game of wack-a-mole.
This has even caused several high-profile Democrats including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar to demand answers for the allegations of sexual misconduct against Cuomo to be thoroughly investigated.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer appeared over the weekend on MSNBC to talk about some of the current political scandals upending the Democrat Party, particularly those of Andrew Cuomo’s.
And Chuck Schumer took the gloves off Cuomo, calling the allegations “troubling” while asking for an independent investigation to take place.
“Well, every one of these allegations is really serious, really troubling, and needs to be carefully, carefully looked at. I have always said that sexual harassment is just not tolerable in our society, and we know that. And so, I, early on, called for an independent investigation. I have a great deal of faith, Lawrence, in the attorney general of New York State (Letitia James),” Schumer stated.
“She will uncover everything. She will turn over every stone. She has subpoena power for both records and witnesses. And I am also confident that she will resist any outside interference, political or otherwise. I have faith in her,” Schumer concluded.
Of course, Chuck Schumer stopped short of calling for Cuomo’s outright resignation.
But with Democrats holding a razor-thin majority in both houses of Congress, Chuck Schumer knows a high-profile scandal involving a member of their party could cost them the majority in 2022.
So he’s sending signals to other members of his party that they should begin to distance themselves from Andrew Cuomo or face the wrath of angry voters in the next election.
