Rachel Maddow has been the number-one voice on left-wing cable news for the past 15 years.
But she just made a major announcement.
And no one expected Rachel Maddow to leave MSNBC for this bizarre career change.
In order to direct her attention towards movies and podcasts, including a film directed by Ben Stiller, Rachel Maddow is taking a hiatus from MSNBC.
“Rachel Maddow reportedly will go on hiatus from her primetime talk show on MSNBC to focus on movie and podcast projects, including a film directed by Ben Stiller,” the New York Post reported.
“Maddow told staffers at the left-leaning, Comcast-owned network that she will step aside for a few weeks to devote time to her side projects, Business Insider reported on Monday,” the Post continued.
“She is expected to announce the move to viewers during Monday night’s broadcast. Maddow will executive produce a Focus Features movie based on her book and podcast, ‘Bag Man,’ about a political bribery scandal,” the Post added.
Maddow signed a $30 million per year contract last year with MSNBC which required her to leave her nightly talk show in 2022 to transition into projects for MSNBC’s new streaming service.
Even though she’s taking a hiatus, Maddow will still cover major events like Joe Biden’s upcoming State of the Union Address.
Maddow is the highest-rated leftist host on all of cable news.
And right now, there is no obvious successor to replace Maddow.
Maddow’s leaving comes at a time when ratings dropped across all of cable news after Donald Trump left the White House.
Of course, the media knows this.
That’s why they still cover Donald Trump so much even though he’s been out of office longer than a year.
No matter how much they smear Trump and claim he’s a direct threat to American democracy, the truth is that journalists and news executives secretly hope he runs again in 2024.
The surge created by Donald Trump in 2015 led to record ratings and subscriptions for the corporate-controlled media.
With Rachel Maddow being the only star on MSNBC’s primetime lineup, the media desperately needs Donald Trump to run for President again.
No one at CNN or MSNBC can draw a large audience.
And the corporate-controlled media could see a round of bloodletting and layoffs if Donald Trump decides not to run again in 2024.
