The Senate is split 50/50 between the two parties, with Kamala Harris serving as the tie-breaking vote.
This means Joe Biden can’t afford to have any Senate Democrats vote against his nominees.
But one Democrat Senator just stalled Joe Biden’s agenda with this one humiliating rejection.
Joe Biden recently nominated Neera Tanden, a Democrat Party activist and Hillary Clinton ally, to serve as Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
Not only does Tanden have a history of posting toxic comments on social media, but she also stood accused of outing a sexual harassment accuser and punching a reporter, making her nomination controversial from the start among Republicans.
But West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, who also found Tanden’s history troubling, just dealt a setback to Biden by announcing he would be joining Republicans in voting against Tanden’s confirmation as Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
Manchin’s opposition means Joe Biden can’t confirm Tanden unless one Republican defects and changes their vote.
But that isn’t stopping the Biden Administration from doubling down on their efforts to confirm Tanden.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki even released a statement claiming Tanden was qualified solely because of her gender and race.
“Neera Tanden, an accomplished policy expert, would be the first Asian American woman to lead OMB, has lived experience having benefitted [sic] from a number of federal programs as a kid, looking ahead to the committee votes this week and continuing to work toward her confirmation,” Psaki wrote.
But the bad news for Biden is that RINOs Mitch McConnell and Susan Collins have already announced their opposition to Tanden’s confirmation, leaving RINO Lisa Murkowski as Biden’s only hope unless he can strongarm Joe Manchin into changing his mind.
