Pete Buttigieg has his eyes on the White House.
But he doesn’t appear ready for the primetime of national politics.
That’s because a shocking scandal just broke that could ruin Pete Buttigieg’s political future.
The corporate-controlled media helped propel Pete Buttigieg from being the former Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, to being a Democratic Presidential contender.
After dropping out of the Primary and helping Joe Biden win the Democrat nomination, Buttigieg was rewarded by being named Secretary of Transportation.
But after disappearing during the midst of a major supply chain crisis to take paternity leave with his husband, another scandal is brewing from his days as Mayor of South Bend.
According to a bombshell report by the Daily Mail, Buttigieg was involved in a “pay-for-play” scandal, where he routinely awarded city contracts to his largest campaign donors.
Buttigieg’s committee received in excess of $250,000 in contributions from donors who he later awarded $33 million in contracts from the city.
In fact, 23 companies that donated to his campaign were given city contracts during his time as Mayor, including two companies that received contracts on the same day they contributed to his campaign.
After executives at American Structurepoint donated $35,850 to his Mayoral race, in 2012 Buttigieg appointed an executive from the company to head South Bend’s Department of Public Works.
The company later received hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of additional city contracts, which watchdog groups are calling ethically concerning.
“I’m stunned if it is true that South Bend Indiana doesn’t have laws on the books that prohibit this. At the federal level, this would be entirely illegal. A federal contractor cannot make a contribution to a candidate, because of the obvious conflict of interest,” remarked Scott Greytak of Transparency International.
Of course, this is the same Buttigieg who is now in charge of doling out trillions of dollars in cash for Biden’s so-called “infrastructure” bill.
David Williams, President of Taxpayers Protection Alliance, said, “this really doesn’t bode well for the Secretary of Transportation when he has access to almost $1.2 trillion in infrastructure money.”
Buttigieg’s political ambitions may be over thanks to this ethically-challenged behavior.
Democrats are looking for a way to replace Joe Biden in 2024.
But Kamala Harris is a disaster, with polls showing her as the least popular Vice President in the past 50 years.
In early primary states like New Hampshire, Buttigieg has been using the infrastructure bill to boost his profile, making him a likely contender for 2024.
However, this pay-to-play scandal could ruin those plans.
And this is why Mayor Pete is not ready for the huge stage of national politics.
