Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can’t seem to avoid controversy.
Earlier this year the pair left everyone stunned when they announced they’d abdicate their positions and duties in the Royal Family.
But Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were dumbfounded when their big announcement backfired on them in the worst way possible.
News is dominated day and night by the Chinese coronavirus.
It’s virtually impossible to ignore on the Internet or television, as cable news networks callously keep tickers of the infected and death tolls.
The United Kingdom was stunned when news broke that newly elected prime minister Boris Johnson was admitted to the ICU with complications from the coronavirus.
And while the country was focused on and concerned with the health of its prime minister, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thought it looked like a great time to announce their new charitable foundation.
With great pride, the pair announced their new charity would be called the Archewell Foundation, named after their son Archie.
The statement read, “Like you, our focus is on supporting efforts to tackle the global Covid-19 pandemic but faced with this information coming to light, we felt compelled to share the story of how this came to be . . . We connected to this concept for the charitable organization we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name. To do something of meaning, to do something that matters.”
But the timing couldn’t have been worse and came across as insensitive and tone-deaf.
Britons on Twitter weren’t happy about it.

#Archewell back off, no one cares. We’re fighting for our PM and other loved ones at this time.

Covid-19 has thrown an unforgiving light on an awful lot of woke stuff / virtuous lifestyle crap, making you realise just how vacuous it really is #archewell https://t.co/G8AyrY7x8a

The former Royals can’t seem to make any of the right moves lately.
After abdicating their positions, it’s been one series of missteps after another.
First they announced they were moving to Canada to wait out the Trump presidency before moving to Los Angeles.
Then, they changed their minds and announced they planned to move to LA after all.
If Harry and Meghan thought the paparazzi in the U.K. were bad, the move doesn’t appear to make much sense.
President Trump declared on Twitter the couple would have to pay for their own security detail, around $25 million per year.
The couple left the Royal Family to be independent, now’s their chance.
