While other late-night hosts’ dwindling ratings have essentially rendered them irrelevant, Greg Gutfeld’s popularity has exploded especially over the past year.
Of course there’s a reason for that and it has everything to do with his willingness to speak the truth through humor.
And now Rachel Maddow threw a toddler-like tantrum after Greg Gutfeld hit the media with this four-word truthbomb.
“Mainstream media is dead”
Americans’ overwhelming distrust in corporate-controlled media has certainly been a long time coming, but it undoubtedly began kicking into high gear as they watched various networks and media talking heads come out of the closet as outright propagandists during the 2016 election cycle, especially after President-elect Donald Trump defeated former First Lady Hillary Clinton.
While most “mainstream” outlets saw big bumps in their viewership during Trump’s first term, those gains didn’t last long as their ratings quickly began to crater as more and more Americans woke up to the reality of the propaganda they were fed.
Now, Trump’s second Presidential election victory has some of the biggest so-called “mainstream” media outlets in a very perilous position as they wrestle with the reality of their lost influence over the American people.
As an anonymous TV executive told New York Magazine, “if half the country has decided that Trump is qualified to be president, that means they’re not reading any of this media, and we’ve lost this audience completely.”
“A Trump victory means mainstream media is dead in its current form,” the executive added. “And the question is what does it look like after.”
But of course, not all corporate media outlets are suffering at the current moment.
While outlets like MSNBC and CNN are seemingly rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic, Fox News’ ratings continue to far outpace their competition.
The year of Gutfeld
That’s especially true for Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld, who was the lone late-night host in all of TV to see his ratings skyrocket rather than crater over the past year.
“Ratings numbers for TV’s traditional late-night shows may be on a steady decline, but it’s an entirely different story over at Gutfeld!, which saw huge viewership gains this year,” LateNighter reported. “According to year-end Nielsen ratings data released by Fox News, the late-night style show hosted by Greg Gutfeld grew its nightly average to 2,500,000 total viewers, a 35% increase over last year. Among viewers aged 25-54, it was a similar story, with a nightly average of 355,000 viewers, up 33% year-over-year.”
And while he certainly has little if any sympathy for Democrats’ media allies’ current troubles, Gutfeld is still nobly attempting to help his media colleagues by pointing out one of their biggest mistakes in recent years.
“The most destructive movement of the last ten years wasn’t just wokism, it was the media’s lockstep anti-trumpism,” Gutfeld wrote on social media recently. “Think about all the horrible decisions related to the biggest calamities we faced, they were excused or denied by the media, because of their irrational opposition to Trump.”
He proceeded to rattle off a laundry list of the worst cases of the media’s anti-Trump bias, pointing out all of the crime, immigration, and other crises the nation has endured largely because its biased media prioritized their political agenda over Americans’ well being.
“If you admitted that progressive policies energized criminality and cost many innocent lives – that would put you on the side of Trump,” he wrote. “So you can’t do that, decides the media, so theft and violence became routine and recidivism exploded.”
Gutfeld also went on to note that the media’s “mass delusion” nearly “brought this country to the brink.”
“So when the media starts hitting the panic button, laugh at them,” he wrote. “They caused this mess. We’ll clean it up.”
“They no longer matter,” he concluded.
