Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is known nationwide for his huge victories for conservatives and for beating the Left.

But there is a human side to the Florida Governor that he does not always let people see.

And Ron DeSantis just let the cat out of the bag about the one surprising restaurant his family cannot do without.

Ron DeSantis talks about the joys of Waffle House

Hurricane Debby made landfall as a Category 1 Hurricane near Steinhatchee, Florida, in the State’s Big Bend region before it was downgraded to a tropical storm.

The hurricane had winds of up to 80 miles per hour that downed trees and flooded streets with the heavy rain it brought.

Debby was already the second hurricane of this year’s Atlantic hurricane season and the first to strike Florida.

The Big Bend region of the Gulf Coast is still recovering from the hit the area took from Hurricane Idalia last year.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held a press conference in the aftermath of Debby.

During the news conference, he revealed his personal side.

He said that he became a “hero” to his three children, Madison, Mason, and Mamie, as well as Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis, for his waffle-making skills.

“I used to do the waffles at home, I’d get the Waffle House (batter),” DeSantis recalled. “They’ve got really good batter you can get, and … my kids loved it. I was, like, the hero for doing it.”

But now that his kids are getting older, he is taking the whole family to Waffle House to eat.

“Well, finally, I was like, why don’t I take you to a Waffle House? (In) the last six months, we started going in person, and you know, they will get a waffle with chocolate chips and whipped cream, and Madison and Mason will eat that entire thing, and then Mamie, she’ll just eat the chips off the waffle, she doesn’t eat the waffle,” DeSantis explained.

He said he would tell his younger daughter Mamie she needed to eat the waffle, too, because it is good.

“She’ll just sit there and eat the chocolate chips,” DeSantis said.

The DeSantis family really likes breakfast

DeSantis also said his children wanted to expand their breakfast restaurant horizons.

“They’re big fans of Waffle House, and now they’re asking me if there’s other places like that,” DeSantis stated. “And so maybe we’ll have to go to International House of Pancakes at some point.”

The Florida Governor had previously revealed that his family also loves to get Chick-fil-A.

“Let’s just put it this way. Our family’s daily rhythms would change if Chick-fil-A did not exist,” DeSantis said last year.

“That’s probably our kids’ favorite thing. And look, it’s not like you just do it every day, but when you’re going from a baseball game to this or that, to be able to do it’s important.”

He has pointed out that the chicken tender chain Raising Cane’s is another family favorite.

“So, I’m going through taking (Mason) through the, like, a late night drive through at Raising Cane’s chicken fingers,” DeSantis explained in May. “But, you know, on like a Saturday night at that time, it’s like drunk Florida State students and me and Mason going through the drive-thru, and so we do it, and I’m just thinking to myself like, I mean, you know, this is a pretty crazy whirlwind, you know, that we’re doing here as you know, as parents.”

Ron DeSantis is a family man, first and foremost, even while he is leading Florida and fighting the Left.
