With the Midterm elections out of the way, all eyes in Washington, D.C. are on the 2024 Presidential race.
As one of the biggest ballot box winners, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ career just got a huge boost.
And he just made a decision about 2024 that has Democrats terrified.
Democrats are geniuses when it comes to employing divide and conquer tactics—an approach that worked out brilliantly this year as RINOs worked to actively undermine the prospects of candidates endorsed by Donald Trump.
Democrats have also been looking ahead with California Governor Gavin Newsom regularly taking shots at Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.
One of the biggest questions swirling about the 2024 Presidential race deals with whether or not DeSantis will throw his hat in the ring.
Governor DeSantis shot to conservative rock star status after his outrageously successful first term as Governor.
He was also the biggest GOP winner coming out of the Midterm elections where he not only won his reelection as governor but even flipped a Democrat stronghold in Florida red.
Democrats are desperately hoping Republicans will tear each other to shreds in an ugly Presidential primary.
But at 44-years old DeSantis is positioned to be a future Presidential contender for the Republican Party, whether it happens in 2024 or at a later date.
His re-election campaign for governor raised far more than he needed to win in a state where he was wildly popular with more than $200 million pouring in from donors around the country.
In the process, he set the all-time record for the most fundraising by a Gubernatorial candidate in the history of American politics.
His wildly successful approach raised questions over whether he would use that momentum to run for President in 2024.
Shortly before he soundly thumped his Democrat challenger, Charlie Crist, on Election Day he revealed part of his plans for 2024.
“I know that Charlie is itching to talk about 2024 and Joe Biden,” DeSantis pointed out when asked about serving a second full term. “But I just want to make things very, very clear: The only worn-out old donkey I’m looking to put out to pasture is Charlie Crist.”
Former President Donald Trump has been the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, but Democrats are hoping he and DeSantis will tarnish both their reputations with some ugly Republican Party infighting.
It was already clear Governor DeSantis built a fundraising network during his re-election bid that would make for a formidable Presidential campaign.
But a report from Vanity Fair is indicating that DeSantis has the political chops to outsmart the Democrats.
Reporter Gabriel Sherman revealed that Ron DeSantis has told donors that he wasn’t planning on challenging Trump for the Republican nomination, if the former President chooses to run in 2024.
Sherman cited four “prominent Republicans” who are claiming DeSantis is “reconsidering” his plans for a potential 2024 Presidential bid.
One of those GOP sources told Sherman that DeSantis “led them to believe he will not run if Trump does.”
Given his age, and another term as Governor awaiting him, DeSantis’ has plenty of time to plan for a Presidential run in the future.
DeSantis already knows Trump only has one term left if he were to run and win in 2024.
That means the 2028 Republican Presidential nomination would be Ron DeSantis’ for the taking.
“He can walk into the Presidency in 2028 without pissing off Trump or Florida,” one source told Vanity Fair. “What would you rather do? Be the governor of Florida for certain or go run for President?”
Democrats are hoping for an ugly primary fight.
Unfortunately it appears Democrats and their pals in the corporate-controlled media have already succeeded in goading Donald Trump into that fight, as he’s lashed out insisting on fealty from all conservatives including the Florida Governor who he’s labeled as “DeSanctimonious” in recent days.
It remains to be seen what Ron DeSantis’ ultimate decision about running for President in 2024 will be, but it seems he’s keeping his eyes on the fact that Republicans have a common enemy they need to defeat going forward.
