Leftists think they own this country and everyone in it.
But Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just issued a blunt wake-up call.
And leftist busybodies are enraged over how he schooled the Disney company and dealt a serious blow to Democrats.
Ron DeSantis refuses to leave parents and children in his state at the mercy of corporate mercenaries.
That made him the radical fringe left’s number one target when he put teeth to his values with a Parental Rights in Education bill in Florida.
The left went to battle with everything they have and launched a massive smear campaign dubbing the proposed legislation the “don’t say gay” bill.
“Woke” executives at Florida’s corporate powerhouse and largest employer — the Disney company — joined the fray with everything they had.
But that turned out to be far less than they needed to beat principled Republicans in a survival battle for the American family.
In spite of having one of the biggest and most powerful lobbying teams in the state, all of Disney’s fit throwing didn’t even phase DeSantis and his supporters.
In fact, after it became apparent the company was willing to step way out of line — and attack the very families who keep it in business — the Governor put Disney’s special tax privileges in his cross hairs.
Before the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, amusement parks were Disney’s biggest source of income.
You can imagine with draconian lockdowns over most big cities in the world how Florida’s Disney World must have become increasingly important to the company’s success.
But the big wigs in charge at the iconic company couldn’t manage to get corporate staff to stay professional.
Instead, they had to make every family’s private business their concern.
However, they’re singing a different tune after their quasi-government status was repealed.
According to the Wall Street Journal Disney has a new strategy in Florida: shut up and stay out of trouble.
“Disney had been burned too many times over the past two months tangling with Mr. DeSantis, the company’s allies in the state legislature said, and keeping quiet would give the company the best shot at working out a resolution with the governor,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
Republican State Senator Jeff Brandes describes what just went down as “shock and awe from the Governor.”
Christina Pushaw, DeSantis’ Press Secretary, says it is the only possible outcome considering what was at stake, “No corporation could possibly have swayed Governor DeSantis’ dedication to protecting kids and parents’ rights.”
She went on to explain exactly what went down in the Sunshine State.
“Disney’s vow to ‘repeal’ HB 1557 and overrule the majority of Floridians, as well as our legitimately elected government, has backfired as expected,” Pushaw said. “Waging culture wars against common-sense legislation — on parental rights and child safeguarding — is bad for business, particularly for a company that has built a successful brand over the decades by marketing wholesome entertainment to families.”
This is a massive victory for Florida families and Americans all over the country.
It’s about time woke corporations get put back in their place and reminded who pays the bills to keep their lights on.
No matter how much Democrats and RINOs were sniping at DeSantis, choosing to do the right thing — even when facing the ire of one of the biggest corporations in the world — will only boost the loyalty of millions of conservatives.
