And Texas Governor Greg Abbott made one surprising move that sent Joe Biden off the rails.
The border crisis is out of control.
Thanks to Joe Biden’s open borders agenda, record numbers of illegal aliens are entering the country.
With the Biden administration refusing to even admit there’s a crisis, Republican-led states are stepping up and taking matters into their own hands.
Texas is currently overwhelmed by the surge of illegal aliens from Biden’s border crisis.
This led to Republicans in Texas taking unprecedented measures to address the problem, such as starting construction on a state-funded border wall picking up where Trump’s efforts left off.
Governor Greg Abbott also deployed the Texas National Guard and law enforcement to assist with the border under Operation Lone Star.
With funding for the program set to run out, Texas just transferred nearly $500 million from the state’s general fund to Operation Lone Star.
State agencies involved in the program requested the additional funding in order to continue their mission of securing the border.
Greg Abbott and other GOP leaders from the State Senate and State House discussed the decision with the heads of each agency.
“These transfers are meant to support the deployment of the National Guard with $465.3 million and to support border operations in other state agencies with $30 million,” Republican leadership stated.
“We understand the Fiscal Years 2020-2021 appropriations would otherwise lapse and be unavailable to your agencies and that the Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations have been fully funded with other sources,” they added.
Governor Greg Abbott explained why he had no choice but to take this unprecedented action in Texas.
“Texas will not sit on the sidelines as President [Joe] Biden continues turning a blind eye to the crisis at our southern border,” Abbott said.
“Texans’ safety and security is our top priority, and we will continue fighting to keep our communities safe. This additional funding ensures the Lone Star State is fully equipped to provide Texans the border security strategy they demand and deserve,” he concluded.
According to State Senator Joan Huffman, 14,000 illegal aliens have been arrested and thousands of pounds of drugs have been confiscated as a result of Operation Lone Star.
“While securing the border is the federal government’s responsibility, Texas will not sit idly by as this crisis grows,” Abbott remarked.
“Texas is responding with the most robust and comprehensive border plan the nation has ever seen,” he explained.
Since the start of Biden’s border crisis, Texas has spent roughly $4 billion on border security efforts.
With Joe Biden refusing to address the problem, more GOP-led states will likely have no choice but to take action to secure their borders.
