Joe Biden’s poll numbers are dropping fast after his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Some Democrats and members of the corporate-controlled media have even turned on Joe Biden.
But the Afghanistan debacle could turn into a win for Joe Biden if this one RINO in Congress gets his way.
If there’s a silver lining in the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan for Joe Biden, it has been the opportunity for him to bring hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees into America.
Biden hopes these refugees will help turn his failure in Afghanistan into an electoral victory with them voting Democrat in the future.
Now one Republican in Congress is furiously working to help Biden achieve this goal.
Republican Congressman Peter Meijer (R-MI) just introduced a bill to increase the number of migrants from Afghanistan into America.
If passed, the “Showing American Values by Evacuating (SAVE) Afghan Partners Act of 2021” would add an additional 10,000 “Special Immigrant Visas.”
When the families of the visa recipients are taken into account, the number increases to 40,000.
But the real dagger in the back is the bill would also change the eligibility requirements for those who “contributed” to U.S. government operations in Afghanistan.
Instead of only applying to those who worked directly with the U.S. military, the bill extends the eligibility to include anyone who was paid by U.S. taxpayers to do work in Afghanistan.
The Meijer bill says in part:
“Section 602(b)(2)(A)(ii)(I) of the Afghan Allies Protection Act of 2009 (8 U.S.C. 1101 note) is amended by inserting after “United States Government” the following “, including employment or other work in Afghanistan through a cooperative agreement or grant funded by the United States Government if the Secretary of State determines, based on a recommendation from the Federal agency or organization authorizing such funding, that such alien contributed to the United States mission in Afghanistan.”
Meijer justified his bill in a statement released at the time of the bill’s announcement.
“While the U.S. military is no longer present in Afghanistan, our mission there is not over,” Meijer said. “By clarifying SIV eligibility requirements and raising the visa cap, we will ensure that our allies are protected and our promises are kept. Our credibility and moral standing in the world depend on the completion of this mission.”
Meijer’s bill goes well beyond helping our “partners” who the Taliban now has it out for.
The fact of the matter is the U.S. Government paid a lot of unsavory characters over the course of the 20-year war in Afghanistan.
Now, Joe Biden and the Democrats are excited about Rep. Meijer’s bill to increase the number of refugees in America.
