The Biden regime’s Communist Chinese spy balloon fiasco made Joe Biden’s utter weakness international news once again.

But that’s apparently just the tip of the iceberg.

Over the past decade or so, Communist China has quietly been amassing significant “soft power” around the world.

Long story short, the Chinese have leveraged their growing economic strength – shoutout left-wing globalist elites – to issue trillions of dollars’ worth of loans at adjustable interest rates to struggling nations for infrastructure projects they need just to avoid total collapse.

That’s allowed the Communist nation to essentially hold the fate of most of the non-Western world in its hands, as the adjustable interest rates gives China the ultimate trump card to force those nations to do its bidding by either promising total forgiveness, a lower rate, or even threatening to demand a full immediate repayment if they don’t get their way.

Obviously, that’s not exactly great news for anyone on planet Earth, but that’s also just how Communist China is attempting to extend its influence over the non-Western world.

And it doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of how China is attempting to extend its influence over Western nations, like the United States.

In fact, while the adversarial nation has been extending its influence over non-Western nations, numerous Chinese businesses and individuals with deep ties to the Communist regime have been quietly buying up farmland across the U.S.

Recently, The Fufeng Group, a major Chinese manufacturer of food additives with documented ties to the Communist regime, purchased 370 acres of land in North Dakota under the guise of building a $700 million corn milling plant.

But now, the U.S. Air Force has publicly warned that the project poses “a significant threat to national security.”

That’s because the land the Chinese company purchased just so happens to be only 12 miles from Grand Forks Air Force Base, which is a crucial aspect of the military’s air and space operations in defense of the nation.

In a letter to Senator John Hoeven (R-ND), the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics, Andrew Hunter, sounded the alarm.

“The proposed project presents a significant threat to national security with both near and long-term risks of significant impacts to our operations in the area,” Hunter wrote.

Hunter also seemingly suggested that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) – an inter-agency committee comprised of nine of the President’s cabinet-level officials, who asses national security threats posed by foreign investments in the U.S. – had been asleep at the wheel when he allowed The Fufeng Group to purchase the land.

“While CFIUS concluded that it did not have jurisdiction, the [Air Force] Department’s view is unambiguous,” Hunter said.

Senator Hoeven responded to Hunter’s letter by issuing a joint statement with his fellow North Dakota Republican Senator, Kevin Cramer, in which they called for the city of Grand Forks to cancel the Chinese company’s project and find an American company to take it over.

“City leaders have asked for clarity from leaders in the federal government regarding the Fufeng project,” the Republican Senators wrote. “As we have recommended, we believe the city should discontinue the Fufeng project and instead we should work together to find an American company to develop the agriculture project.”

And fortunately, despite the fact that President Joe Biden and his regime didn’t have the backbone to stop a company connected to the Communist Chinese regime from completing a project even the Air Force admitted is a major national security threat, the people of Grand Forks did.

Earlier this week, the Grand Forks City Council voted unanimously to strike down The Fufeng Group’s project, prompting the citizens in attendance to erupt in cheers.

Prior to voting to scrap the project, Councilwoman Rebecca Osowski even went so far as to admit that the Council was wrong to approve the project in the first place, and thanked the citizens of Grand Forks for forcing them to stop it.

“I guess I will say it – citizens, you were right, and thank you,” Osowski said to applause from those in attendance. “As a citizen of Grand Forks, thank you very much.”

Of course, while Grand Forks’ nightmare may be over, the problem of Communist Chinese land ownership is only continuing to grow out of control under President Joe Biden’s watch.
