After months of ignoring Black Lives Matter violence, the government is working overtime to make an example of the violence on the Capitol on January 6th.
They have thrown the book at hundreds of people, including those that committed no violence that day.
But now the Deep State is panicking after facing a big loss over the Capitol riot.
Over the past year, the federal government has made clear that there is a double standard when it comes to prosecutions.
While Portland, Oregon was under siege with intensely violent protests over a period of well over 100 days in a row, the government did very little.
And when they made efforts to arrest those responsible for violence, the mainstream media and high-level Democrats condemned them for doing their job.
But when violence broke out on January 6th, the Left demanded that the federal government throw everything and the kitchen sink at conservatives en masse.
Democrat Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee even demanded the arrest of tens of thousands of protesters at the Capitol, even those who never got close to the building.
2/4 alleged that 40,000 protesters were in DC with the mindset to overturn a legitimate election and to kill the Speaker, the Vice President, and Members of Congress, in that instance, only 300 persons have now been arrested and are being prosecuted. What kind of justice is that?

And it turns out that federal prosecutors, even those appointed by President Trump, are in a similar mindset.
Federal prosecutor Michael Sherwin, who is a Trump appointee and headed the Capitol investigation in the opening weeks, went on CBS News’ 60 Minutes to make that clear.
He declared that the government’s immediate goal after January 6th was to arrest as many people as quickly as possible in order to put a chilling effect on the First Amendment, in order to scare Trump supporters away from any future protests.
“After the 6th, we had an inauguration on the 20th. So I wanted to ensure, and our office wanted to ensure that there was shock and awe that we could charge as many people as possible before the 20th,” Sherwin told CBS News.
He added, “And it worked because we saw through media posts that people were afraid to come back to D.C. because they’re like, ‘If we go there, we’re gonna get charged.’”
As it turns out, this interview could actually come back to bite the Deep State in their cases against Capitol protesters.
Judge Amit Mehta, who is presiding over a conspiracy case against alleged members of the Oath Keepers, blasted Sherwin for his “highly unprofessional” behavior.
In particular, Sherwin claimed that the government may have “the facts to support” seditious conspiracy charges against some defendants.
This statement could end up shuttering any of these charges the Deep State may have been trying to lay.
