Russian forces’ invasion of Ukraine isn’t going as they’d hoped.
Due to stiff Ukrainian resistance, victory hasn’t come as quickly as Russia expected.
And now the entire world is on edge after Vladimir Putin gave this one insane order.
Vladimir Putin expected his invasion of Ukraine to be a walk in the park.
Instead, the Russian army’s march to Kyiv was severely slowed down by the power of Ukrainian forces.
After Russia launched its invasion, the U.S. and other Western nations not only wasted little time in hitting the country with severe economic sanctions, but also vowed to provide lethal aid to the Ukrainians.
That’s when Vladimir Putin escalated the situation to a frightening level, ordering his nuclear forces to “special combat readiness” and threatening nuclear war if any country attempted to stop him from taking Ukraine.
“Western countries aren’t only taking unfriendly actions against our country in the economic sphere, but top officials from leading NATO members made aggressive statements regarding our country,” Putin stated.
As the owner of the world’s largest stockpile of nuclear weapons, Putin’s order alarmed many experts.
“He is right now threatening a nuclear escalation,” former CIA intelligence officer Rebekah Koffler told Fox News. “This a veiled threat – or maybe such a veiled threat – he just met with his chief of general staff and minister of defense. He is escalating the conflict into the nuclear domain in order to de-escalate – that is to topple Kyiv’s regime quickly.”
The Biden administration then turned the temperature of the conflict up to the point of no return by harshly condemning Putin.
“It means that President Putin is continuing to escalate this war in a manner that is totally unacceptable and we have to continue to stem his actions in the strongest possible way,” U.N. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said on CBS.
Of course, when the conflict first began, the top fear of many was that Putin would order his nuclear forces to a heightened level of readiness, especially given how few Americans have confidence in Biden’s leadership skills and cognitive abilities.
With Putin saber rattling, there’s a worry that Biden could blunder America into World War III with Russia over Ukraine.
Since any incidents of Russian and American troops exchanging fire would lead to nuclear war, right now the U.S. and NATO have committed to not sending soldiers into Ukraine.
